How to go back on track

Ok here what happen, i use to bike a lots and walk a lots for 2 years ago and before that but for some reason i stop biking and walking well it was too cold for me to walk i didn't but now i want to start getting back in shape because i gain weight and i get out of breath every easy...for exemple today i went at the 3 floor in my office so i use the stair to come back too... OH BOY.. wow i was out of breath and felt like my heart was going to come out my chest... is this normal really just from going up 3 floors of stair....I this normal?

I want to start to bike again but is it dangerous to be out of breath?

Walking up and down stairs really has no bearing on your health condition. If it was the first time you did it, then yes, you will be out of breath because walking up stairs is not a trivial thing. You're fighting gravity. I walk up 11 flrs of stairs daily, twice. So I really have no problem. Of course, I might breathe a little hard, but that's pretty much alright. You might breath a little hard after walking up on flight of stairs. Not like having an asthma attack hard breathing, just a little bit.

As far as riding again, I say go right on ahead. Unless you have a medical condition, I say take it slowly. Try to build up again slowly. If you start feeling pain or shortness of breath, stop and ask your doctor for help.

What do you mean when you say it has no bearing on your health condition? Sorry sometime i need more explanation since i am french.

Well i stop doing exercices because one day i was walking with a heart monitor watch and my heart rate came up to 245bpm my doctor told me he did not really believe that that the watch was probably difectif he goes those watch are maybe good to a certain rate then them might mutiply the heart rate and gave you a false number and because you saw that you panick.. you right i panick..that day i went to the doctor he took my blood pressure, heart rate and everythig was fine, they send me for an EKG, Stress test, Nuclear Stress test (5 hours test where they inject your with liquid and take x-ray of your heart and then make you walk on a treadmill and the inject you again to see who your heart react and also and 24 heart monitor) all my test came back normal... i suppose that if something was wrong they would of seen it with all those test... but that was why i was scread to exercice, walking and biking....

245 bpm is impossible. C'est impossible. That high of a hr would probably mean death or loss of consciousness. An adult has a usual hr of around 60 ~ 100 bpm. During exercises, it can range from 120 ~ 190 bpm depending on age and type of exercise. To find your max hr, take 220 minus your age. There is another formula to calculate your ideal hr during exercises (ie the range of hr you want to get).

As for walking up the stairs, it really doesn't have any bearings on your health. I got pretty mad at myself that I couldn't walk up the stairs. So I decided to make an effort to walk up the stairs every chance I get. Soon enough, I was able to do 11 floors with ease while taking two steps at a time. So if you really are concerned about walking up the stairs, then make an effort to take the stairs everyday, at least once.

It sounds to me like you're okay to go exercise. 2 years is not that long of a time. You just need to rewire your muscles to become accustomed to the new exercise habit. Sort of like riding a bike after 20 years. It might be shaky, but in no time you'll get it.

Hi!
Little bit of French Thanks that nice..;)
Yes that want my doctor told me that it was impossible...he told me to get rid of the watch because i just not good! I also talk to the cardiologist that did all the test and told him that and his answer was i really don't believe it would go that high and he goes stop worry about it if your heart rate goes a little hight you won't loose conscienceness or die its just that you have to learn to be fit again!!!!

Like today i went for like 45 min walk i did not walk very fast but when i went back to work i felt like my heat beating everythere in my body.... but i was hot outside i was caring my leather jacket so maybe i was just rusty..lol :D if you don't walk often what what happen...

I think that i will try to do that when i come to work i will go up the stair for a bit...i think that my concern is that everytime my heart pound in my chest i get terrified.. but i shoud not it quite normal if you don't exercise often:)

I wouldn't go so far as to say that a heart rate of 245 is impossible, but it would be very, very unlikely. Much more likely is you are getting interference with your heart rate monitor that is giving you erroneous readings.

YES THAT QUITE POSSIBLE!

Because for some reason i actually both time it happen i happen around the same place when i was walking! So now i don't use the monitor it freak me out, I try to believe that what the doctor told me was fin and all my test were good! then maybe i could start to exercise again and been healthy!

Hi Dallen!

How are you?

I not too bad, i started to walk a bit but i wow i am out of shape... i did not know that 2 years would make such a difference! I have not start biking yet.. for some reason i feel paranoid because that heart stuff... but i guess my doctor seen all my test result and he goes if i could put you in a plastic rap you would be in perfect health (he said that because i have sinus allergies) but he goes your cholesterol is good, your blood pressure is good, but i notice that my blood pressure before was 122/80 i think now its 132/80 i think my doctor told me that it was fine but i read on the internet that its not the greatest... its maybe because i don't exercise!

I have to kick myself in the ass to start moving....!
I wonder if i don't have time to walk in the morning and i do this like walking at the same spot in the house if it does the same benefit?
