Numb toes during cross trainer

Hi,

I've been going to the gym since Jan/Feb (not as regularly as I'd like) and have been doing 25 mins + 5 mins cool down on manual setting on the cross trainer. The last time I went and did this, my toes started to go numb, a bit like the start of pins n needles. This happened near the end of the session.

Has anybody experienced this?

Thanks,
Luke.

Your shoes might be too tight.

It sounds simple, but your feet swell up during exercise and the shoes are too tight, causing blood restriction, which causes the numbness.

Most of the time problems with your feet are related to your shoes.

Yeah, I just thought of that myself :)

Will try again with them not so tight and post back.

Thanks,
Luke.

i never experienced that problem, however i recently went shopping for an elliptical and one of the pitches the salesman used to convince me to buy the most expensive precor machine was that certain machines will cause your toes to go numb depending on movement...

try tying your sneakers looser...but if its not better maybe try a differnt style machine..different size or different movement

good luck

I can't see how a different ellipical machine is gonna affect your toes differently as your foot stays flat the whole time (at least on every unit I have ever used). That sounds like a sales pitch! Sounds like your shoes are too tight.

No, my feet do move. The toes are the only part of the foot that don't move.

They only have the same ellipticals. They do have bikes, steppers and some wierd things with pedals at chest height ;D

No its not due to blood restriction, its due to comprimised nerve signals. Maybe it could be something trivial like tight shoes, are you a diabetic? because diabetics suffer from nueropathy which damages nerves and produce symptoms such as numbness.

Nope, not diabetic.

Kind of an out there guess, but do you have flat or excessively arched feet? If so, are you wearing footwear made for your foot type?

Specifically, if you have flat feet, and your shoe has a larger arch to it, you could be compressing nerves, capillaries, etc.

I was suffering from the same issue but the numbness spread to the feet as well. I changed shoes to an advanced running shoe and a slightly larger size to allow for swelling. BINGO it worked thanks for the great thread, it really helped.

Wow, going to give this a try. I use the Elliptical 6-7 days a week at home and my toes do get numb after awhile. Going to give new sneakers a try to see if that is what is doing it.
