Need a little more help

Well i've determined once and for all that i simply cannot squat... it causes VERY unnatural lower back pain after the exercise... sometimes delayed by hours... i am definitely going to ruin my lower back if i continue. I've tried every form correction thing there is... i have good form... i have tried every back position, all foot position... tried placing the weight on my heels and everything....

The same applies to dumbbell deadlifts (i have not yet tried barbell deadlifting but maybe it would be ok).. cannot do them... the back cannot take it..

My question is:

If i just do bench press, single arm bent over rows, shoulder press, pullups and maybe lunges? AND eat tonnes of protein and in caloric surplus... what will happen? Will i still get bigger muscles?

I might be able to eventually add leg press which would help but assume for now... NO deadlift... NO sqaut.. no leg press... only lunges.

What about Step-Ups?

Yeah of course you will still get bigger muscles... try doing squats with just your body weight. I hurt my lower back pretty bad once deadlifting and did a lot of work and studying on my form... I found out what I was doing and starting slowly building up strength and now I can do them with no back pain.

I say do bodyweight ones and really study form... also check out the book... The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion.. might help get you realligned

Iv definately found that out, im with you 100% on that. I started DLing a few months ago, i started too heavy, i could lift the weight but my muscles just wernt used to it. Now iv dropped it back down and working my way up slowly and iv now noticed the weight that hurt a couple of months ago, now doesnt hurt at all.

are you sure its pain or is it soreness (soreness usually happens from your body not doing a certain movement/exercise in a while or the first time doing it)?

do you have a foam roller, a bat, or a tennis ball to roll your back? have you seen a physical therapist or been to a chiropractor or a doctor?
