What's up guys.... Excited!

Alright guys, so I've been reading here for about a week, just strolling the forums and whatnot... What a great community this is :)

Anyways, I used to run track and do high jumping in high school, but after I moved out on my own when I was 18, I started to play a lot of video games, and eat a lot of fast food.

I'm 20 now, and a little bit overweight. I have attached some pictures for you all to laugh at :)

I really want to get back into shape... I'm not too fat, my measurements are;

5'11'
178 Pounds
Waist is 34 inches... but I have a small beer belly :p

I don't really want to get huge - ripped and whatnot, but I have small man boobs, a small double chin, and a small beer belly.

I want to get rid of them, get a small six pack, get small pecks -- etc. I just want the healthy look.

In about a week I will be moving to Pittsburgh, PA where I will have access to ellipticals, treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, ergometer, medicine balls, and weights.

I was wondering what kind of exercises you guys think I should do, and what I should eat (I'll be living in a dorm, so I can't follow a totally strict diet. I'll be eating cafeteria food etc.)

Thanks for all the help and support that I have already been reading on the forums! I just wanted to introduce myself and any tips you guys have, will be greatly appreciated :)

Water, just water. Just read the stickies and ask specific questions.
Calculate your BMR, start eating in a deficit
( check nutrition/weight loss stickies )

Start doing some kind of weight training routine as well.

I recent study in the u.k found that skim milk can be better for replacing fluids after a workout than water and other drinks such as elecotrolyte replacement drinks.

Welcome to the forum.

So, I have a small case of shin splints. ATM all I have is a treadmill, so I speedwalk about 35 minutes a day, about 2.5 miles... is this good enough for now, combines with small meals and lots of water? I pretty much sit around all day unfortunately working on computers.

Try to get some dumbells or a barbell curl anytime you can, weight training can greatly assist in weight loss.

And the cardio is fine, keep doing it and eventually increase intensity.

To lose weight you need to eat in a calorie deficit, that means eating less than your body burns.
