Jump Shrug issues

hello people,

I have been doing the jump shrug for 3 workouts now and I beleive I like it.
The onlu issue is that I am doing it from the deadlift bottom position and then when I bring it up and shrug, I tend to sometimes bend my elbows.

Is that ok to do, or is the saying bending elbow = power end?

ALso a stupid thing, my hand was hurt before and it has healed but I still cannot catch the bar w/o slight miscomfort and pain. It is when the finger tips are bent all the way back in the catch pase of the clean.
I have iced it, taken many tylenols. I dont know what to do

What should I Do?
THanks

In a pull like that you don't want your elbows to bend until AFTER you're done with the tripple extension. If you bend them to make room for the bar to raise further up, it's sorta ok. However, with jump shrugs you might want to use so much weight that you don't have to make room for the bar by bending your elbows.

that makes sense. I was doing 205 and my elbows would bend after I shrugged. I always knw that albow bends then power ends. SO maybe I have to up the weight to 225 or something.

The thing is that deadlifting 225 is actually in my deadlift workout so I mean I am pretty much doing a deadlift workout in my jump shrug workout lol.

ANwyas, what about my clean problem? anyone help me on that

I don't know, I could just do high pulls..
can you post a video of you cleaning, maybe you catch the bar wrong..

i did some cleans today and my hand felt kind of hurt if I caught it wrong so i think it is based on that.
Anyways I was in front of a window, and it looked like I was bending my elbows!!!!!

When is it ok to bend the elbow on cleans?

after you're "on top" which means after the tripple extension. In the explosive pull you push the hips forward (extending them) extend the knees and the ankles, like a jump. On top of that you shrug upwards

look at the 4th picture, after that, it's ok to bend the elbows.
