Ankle sore

I have been running for about 3 weeks now trying to get in shape for basic, I was running in an old pair of shoes I had (I know it's a bad idea) and they seemed to be working fine till about 3 days ago. I ran 3 miles, the entire time I was running I could feel discomfort in my ankles, I thought it was just because it was cold out, after I got done running and walked around a bit, I sat down for not even 5 min. when I stood back up, my ankles were hurting so bad I was limping everywhere. I bought new shoes the next day, took a day or two off from running, but I ran again lastnight, in the new shoes, and my ankles are killing me again! Is this going to go away and is it bad?

i assumed its something biomechanically related.

Whats the pain like and where exactly.
Does it happen straight away or after the running.
is it only running, does it hurt if you do verticle jumps and landing on your tippy toes?

I don't know how to describe how the pain is, its like a sore muscle, but inside the joint. It hurts all the way from just under the ball that sticks out on the inside of your ankle to the one on the other side.
It hurts anytime I try to walk on it. And it felt a little uncomfortable while I was running, but the pain trippled after I was done and had sat down.
I went swimming today and that didn't seem to really hurt it at all as far as I can tell right now. I swam for an hour and a half.

I wouldnt think so as swimming has no impact on the ankle joints.

Impossible for anyone to really tell you what it is unless you saw someone professionally.

Maybe a stress fracture who knows.

If you have an otherwise healthy body id get it checked out.

Yeah definatley see a doctor. You never know whats going on in all those ligaments and small bones in there.

Agree. I have a friend in the military who continued to train on a sore ankle until it really limited her and she had to go to the doc. What she thought was a twisted ankle turned out to be 4 broken bones and required two surgeries to fix.

Hopefully you do not have anything as serious, but even a grade I sprain or strain in a joint area like the ankle could take up to several weeks off of training to heal up because of the fact that the joint is so critical to everything else you doing during a given day.
