Hey everyone!
First off - If you're reading this, you're awesome!

This will be my diary where I list what I eat every single day on my EOD fasting journey!

If you've never heard of intermittent fasting, intermittent fasting is a type of fasting where a person will deny themselves food or certain types of food for a relatively brief amount of time, and will still allow themselves a small eating window throughout the day.

I chose to do the alternate day fasting or every other day fasting (EOD) route. I'm a pretty "all or nothing" type of person, so restricting then going back to eating normally has been rather easy for me.

Going forward, I will make an update to this thread every day showing what I ate in the day and how my day generally went (i.e. stress levels, emotions, eating patterns, exercise).

Below I will keep a "cheat sheet" of my current weigh-ins. That way it will be easier for you all to keep up with my progress instead of having to fish through the thread.

Today has been a little harder than usual. My cravings have been basically nonstop, and I notice that my willpower gives in around noon. Maybe that's because all my life, noon has been hardwired into me as lunch time. Whatever the case, I'm not giving in. I have been telling myself that I was going to fast for the last four days, and never did. So today, I'm going to get a grip and keep holding on. Tomorrow will be here as soon as I know it.

Welcome alia! Best of luck with your goals and congrats on the weightloss so far! I'm rooting for you!

PS your fav foods sound a lot like mine, lol.

Hi, Alia & welcome to the forum. Congratulations on the 10 lbs lost already! I am trying to psyche myself back into doing IF, but not EOD. I find 5:2 hard enough! You must be much more strong-willed than you think. I love your enthusiasm & I'll try to take some of that onboard. All the best Alia. I feel sure that you will succeed in your plans. Go you!

Aw thanks! That's so sweet! I can't wait to see where this journey takes me. And lol at my fave foods list. It's too bad all that stuff isn't the golden picture of nutritious, healthful foods.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Good luck on starting up IF again. The first day of fasting is always the hardest.

Alia, I think it's good to know that we can all support one another & encourage one another, even when we might be struggling. A little bit of kindness goes a long way. Welcome, hon :)

Great news!

I woke up at like 2 AM and have just been reading other people's diaries and stuff, but then I had to use the restroom and figured why don't I weigh myself since I was going to do that when I woke up at 6 AM anyway.

I stepped on the scale and I'm officially 185.0 lbs exactly! I'm so proud of myself! I haven't been that weight since last year before the holidays. I'm so glad that intermittent fasting has been working for me. It allows me to eat all my favorite things with the only sacrifice being brief periods of hunger.

Well, 185 was my first official goal. Since I can't cross it off in my first post on this thread, I'll do it here!

Goal Weight 1: 185 lbs

Goal Weight 2: 179 lbs

I'll post later on in the day after I've eaten for my food log today.

Feb 20th 2018

Breakfast:
* 1 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios (138 cal)
* 1/2 cup of 2% milk (60 cal)
* 1 small red delicious apple (90 cal)

Lunch:
* 2 cups of Progresso Split Pea Soup (320 cals)

Dinner:
* 2 slow-cooked barbecue ribs (415 cal)
* 2/3 cup of carrots with butter (160 cal)

Dessert:
* 5 sugar cookies from Publix (400 cals)
* 1 slice of vanilla cake with buttercream (500 cals)

Calories: 2,083

Wow, I really went crazy with the dessert today. I was really craving something sweet after dinner. Next time, I'm going to keep a small dessert packed with me on my feed days so I don't go so... overboard. My day was a little bit more stressful than usual. The kids were upset that they did not get to have playtime first, so they were acting out while doing their homework. The baby was fussy because I was trying adjust his feeding/sleeping schedule, and on top of that, I got 4 1/2 hours of sleep according to my FitBit, and that includes when I went BACK to bed after I had been awake at like 2AM. Tonight, I'm exhausted, and once I take my shower and my medicine, I'm going to be out cold. I just wanted to update you all on everything that I ate.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's fast day. I'll feel better knowing that I burned off all that damn cake and cookies. My goals now is to get better sleep, and stay more active. I got about 10,000k steps today after walking the dog and cleaning the house. I think that I wasn't able to sleep well because I was inactive all week. My legs felt rigid and restless, like they were trying to tense up after the HOURS that I spent in bed.

Note to self: Go for long walks on the weekend so that I can keep up my sleep schedule and not be miserable every Monday.

You had me at ribs.....

Hi Alia and congratulations on having reached your first goal already! I agree that the desserts were a bit much, simply nutrition-wise, but where calories are concerned you´re supposed to eat at maintenance on eating days, aren´t you? Wouldn´t that mean you would have undereaten by quite a lot if you hadn´t had those desserts? Fasting one day and then having less than 1200 kcal on the next would trigger a craving for calorie-dense food in anyone :) So don´t beat yourself up.

Hey LaMaria, yeah I was trying to eat a little bit more healthy this week since my diet last week consisted entirely of sweets and starchy carbs. I want to have a little bit more balance, but still not deprive myself aside from my fasting days of course. Like I said, I'm going to be working toward limiting those deserts and perhaps having healthier sources of carbs in other meals, so that at the end of the day my body isn't like "SUUUUGAAARRR!" like it was yesterday, lol.

So today is a fast day and so far the cravings have been kind of nagging, but like I said before, it's just a little past noon. The hunger pangs should stop in a few hours. I don't intend on having any tea today, so I'll just go ahead and include my food(less) entry now.

Food Intake: 0 - fasting

Today was laundry day at the house I work in, so I've been keeping pretty busy by doing loads and loads of it. The parents left the kids laundry for the weekend in the garage, so I had to fold the clean loads before I could even get to the dirty loads in their closets. I noticed that I'm feeling really tired today as well. I'm not sure if that's my antidepressant, my blood sugar, or both. I'm gonna keep pressing on. Perhaps I'll have a little piece of fruit if it feels like I'm gonna pass out or something.

Update! I was starting to get very tired with a lot of side effects (fatigue, headache, lightheadedness) and since I'm in charge of a baby, I can't have that. So I had one cup of sugar-free vanilla pudding and a strawberry to delay some pretty nasty symptoms. In total, that was 64 calories.

I´m glad you´re sensible about the fasting and do consume food of you´re not feeling well. Fasting every other day is pretty hard work, so take care!

I'm glad that you were sensible about it too. I don't think I would even consider EOD fasting. Please take good care of your health Alia xo
