Starting the groove again!!

Ok its day 1 of getting back into the groove.

As luck would have it all the thunder storms that occured in pittsburgh knocked my power out for two days and thus ruined all the food in my fridge. so now that I can start all over from the begining without any unhealthy food in my fridge (bye bye ice cream and cookie dough). I bought everything my PT listed on my diet plan along with lots and lots of semi dispostible tupperwear containers to bring to work.

I am not a breakfast person so I started my day with Chicken, garlic, and brown rice concoction that surprisingly was tastey. I also had some broccoli and carrots dipped into a yogart and ranch mix recipe I found somewhere on this site. Then I had half and apple. I made a serving and a half so I could eat it all as breakfast and mid morning snack. I had not had an apple in YEARS and I forgot how declicous they were!!!

I'm leaving for lunch soon so far so good for the diet hope the work out this afternoon goes well too!!!

I'm not in the groove yet but I'm on my way there!!!

congrats on getting back into the grove!

just curious.. is your goal to lose weight? do you work out at all? stats?

My Stats are:
24 yrs old. 5'6" 133lbs.

My goals are to loose body fat and gain muscle. I haven't had a chance to get a skin fat caliper so I really don't know where I am on the BF scale. I know my BMI is 21.4 its in the healthy range.

I usually play sports on the weekends to get some cardio. Recently I started jogging out side or on a treadmill about 3-4 time per week for a half hour. I usually weight train 4-5 days per week and do a lot of streching. Right now I am still trying to easy myself back into the good habits I had in college and highschool. So far so good, I just haven't been at it long enough to see any results besides a little more energy after my moring workouts. Working out has never been a chore for me I really enjoy it but I also enjoy FOOD and WINE!!!! My main hurtle is going to be maintaining healthy eating habits while maintaing a 50 hour per week desk job.

ah... in the same boat as me basically.

im 24, 5'5 and my weight varies from 125-130 on any given day.

i also love weight training and have been slowly but surely getting my eating habbits cleaned up. good luck! i'll be checking in on your diary.. it may help me with my eating habbits lol

"Working out has never been a chore for me I really enjoy it but I also enjoy FOOD and WINE!!!!"

Yeah, that's a hurdle for me too. I either don't eat enough or eat too much calories. Alcohol, though, is the biggest problem. In my Uni lifestyle, there are almost always drunken parties on the weekends and sometimes even a few drinks mid-week.

I'll keep checking back in to see if you learn any tips on tackling the big 'how not to drink much' question as well as to cheer you along.

Pacing yourself by having a diet soda or some water between drinks might be an idea, and if it's water it will hydrate and hopefully prevent any nasty after effects.

Great to have you on board.
Diet is half the battle which means that you are half way there becuase you enjoy lifting now lets work on that diet part. No one likes to diet but keep updating us and we will help keep you on track. Good Luck and Welcome

I'm still here!!

Don't worry I'm still here I usually post at work and they changed my internet filters so I couldn't go on forums... but I'm back and still doing good. I had a few picinics this past weekend and it was kind of hard to not hit the snack table. I did well and only took one little bite of a brownie delight. I did have a drink or two but I mixed vodka with diet soda so it wouldn't be too bad for me.

My work out plan is going well for me. I have started walking my dogs twice a day for just a few more burned calories on top of it all. I'm not as sore as I was in the begining and i'm starting to see better results. my flexablity is improving too, still can't touch my toes from a standing position but its a personal goal for me to get there.

I really don't want to loose a lot of weight but I have already lost about 8lbs and my clothes are definetly looser. I starting to get back into my groove and I can't wait to see the results.

Welcome Tina, and good luck with the diary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and,

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rock it, GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Ooops!!!

Ok I have been doing very well eating and working out but today the boss bought everyone ice cream. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! how could they do this to me? I tried saying "no" "no thank you" a dozen different ways and finally after a half hour of pressure I said ok... but it was just 1 scoop and no cone... but then I added sprinkles... I gave in and went for the sprinkles now I really feel guilty....

It has its perks. Like, giving a person an excuse to eat more veggies or varied food rather than just ordering chips or eating chiko rolls day in and out! Of course, it's a fuss dealing with most things.

And Tina, a scoop of icecream?! That seems to be not an issue at all, even if it were a large scoop and with sprinkles. I mean, if you'd already gone over your daily limit by about 200 or more calories, sure, but we've all gotta have a little treat once in a while and icecream is a delicious treat.

The way I see it, a snack-sized piece of unhealthy food every once in awhile is only to be expected and so long as it doesn't grow to meal proportions, it's fine. Remember, no guilt, just watch what you eat for the rest of the day.

I'd suggest thinking in terms of having a food plan rather than a "diet" with all the negative connotations that word has. That said, an isolated treat here and there won't matter in the scheme of things - so long as it doesn't become a trend/habit. The 80/20 rule applies - your results will be 80% based on your nutrition and 20% on your working out. In terms of nutrition you want to be eating clean around 90% of the time. Why not 100%? If anyone has that kind of willpower and determination then my hat's off to them, but me personally? I enjoy my cheat meals. It helps maintain a sense of balance so you don't feel you're depriving yourself all the time. This notion will change over time as your palate gets used to having healthier, more natural foods, but the psychological need for having a break still holds sway. The key of course is planning everything and having it ready to go. Sure life happens and you have to take that in stride - you may not control the direction of the wind, but you can sure adjust your sails.
