Sometimes I feel a rush, like if I were high in a stimulant, why?

Lately I've been exercising more than what I usually do. I've been doing Cardio 3 times/week and Weights 6 times/week (working only one muscle at a time).

Anyways I sometimes get this "rush", like if I were on drugs, something like ecstasy, but much milder of course and I feel light headed. Currently I don't do any drugs or drink alcohol, I've been clean for almost 2 years. It feels good, but I was wondering if there was any explanation for this.

It happens sometimes after exercising but it also happens in the morning/noon before I have exercised.

Thanks.

I get this really lightheaded feeling after doing intense legs. I also don't know why. Breathing? Maybe, but I think I breath the same way as when I work on any other muscle groups....

How heavy was your drug use before you gave it up?
It may shock some people here to know that I once had a drug problem (or maybe it explains a lot) and experienced some of the symptoms you mentioned but I won't go into that here unless you were once a heavy user.

Or it could just be because exercise causes a similar reward response in your brain to drugs like Ecstacy and Cocaine. When you exercise serotonine is released, raised serotonine levels improve your mood. I bet non-drug users wouldn't be able to notice the release :)

Are you taking any kind of oil supplements at all?

Oddly enough I've been feeling the same way. It's been nuts how much energy I've had lately. Like for example yesterday I woke up at 6am, did normal online/book reading, went to work at 10:30am and worked till 10pm. I tried to go to bed at around 11pm but there was no way so instead worked out with weights. Finally was able to get to sleep at 1:30am. Then I got up at 5:30am to go ride my horse. Just got back now and I'm off to work again and I feel fine.

I know that after getting 4-6 hours of sleep a night I'll have a crash day where I sleep for like 10 hours but I'm getting a lot more done this way rather than sleeping 8-10 hours every night like I used to. I gotta say I'm loving this :) Aren't you?

@CCR

Yes it was heavy use: Alcohol, Cocaine, Marihuana and Ecstasy..

The buzz feels very similar to Ecstasy but not as close as to the potency of the Ecstasy high. It feels good though. I've heard about the "runner's high" which is not scientifically proven but what I don't know is if they get it while running or it happens anytime during the day?

Can you go into detail about the symptoms... if you don't mind that is.

@Calcium

Not any oil supplements. I'm putting olive oil on my foods though. I also take a protein shake after working out.

I haven't been sleeping much either. I'm usually sleeping around 5 hours at night, plus I take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. And yeah I usually sleep a lot during the weekends... 10-12 hours.. I love to sleep but yeah, I haven't been able to go to sleep early the past weeks.

Adrenal overload? Be careful, as with anything you will come down. Adrenal failure might be in the near future if you do have your glands jacked up at all hours of the day. I don't know though.

For indigo and ccr, it could just be the chemical response to exercise that you are sensitive to.

For calcium, it sounds like something totally different.

DUDE!! Why try to figure it out? isn't that what we are here for! hello!!!!
