single legged excercises

hey,

i am going to drop Bulg squats from my workout because I am unable to carry huge weight dumbells because it kills my arms.

So i do squats, lunges, but I need another excercise thats single legged.
What are some good ones?

Thanks

Single leg calve raises?

If your arms are unable to hold the weight then its time you start working on that. Don't simply switch over to single legs just so your arms don't have to hold as much...

like 5x5 i am able to hold 70 but it seems like my shoulder is going to pop, the reason i am unable to do the excercise is not because of my thighs but my arms.

It would be great if there was a alternate single leg. Please help me out

Try some farmers walks, Continue on dead lifts but try to hold at the top for longer.

You need to work past your shoulders inability to hold and sustain under increased loads. Don't sweep the problem under...

You can do step-ups. Or if you want to use a really lighter load then do the single-leg Romanian Deadlifts (found in silents article).

i like bulg squats, so i think ill try them with a barbell and see what happens. My problem is balance too, I dont want to fall over with a BB.

Also are stepups a god replacement to bulg squats? Will a gym allow me to step up onto a bench, and should it be in a workout?

Thanks

yeah, i was just about to suggest a barbell. Stepups are awsome, but only if you do them right. Alot of people find that they cant do them without kicking off with the back resting leg.

i dont know...ask them. i would just do them; i doubt anyone will stop you.

step ups are known to be extremely benificial when done right. like karky said though, its too easy when your non working foot naturally kicks off the ground. i personally have this problem. so i try to keep my non working foot as flat as possible when i start the stepup.

also, i dont understand how you can deadlift with heavy weight and then not be able to hold 2 db's to do bulgarian split squats. why does your shoulder feel like its going to pop?

I'd think if you're not able to hold weights after a certain number then any exercises you'd try would be similarly limited (unless you found another way to hold the weights).
