How long do 'newbie' gains go on for?

I have been eating well since the start of feb 07 now.

I am not on a strict diet but everything I eat (except for the odd meal) is in a certain criteria.

e.g instead of having crisps and a chocolate bar for a snack, I will have some Tuna and Cheese.

I have been working out since mid feb 3 x fbw.

I have gained about 10-12lbs from bulking.

How long do these 'newbie' gains go on for?

p.s
I am going to start doing deadlifts when I goto the gym later :D

I don't think there's a definitive answer to your question. The best i can give yo u is that as time goes by you'll have to try alot harder to overload your body and see gains. You're doing good so far, keep it up.

well gains in BW will continue aslong as you eat alot. Alot of the "newbie gains" is from the CNS learning how to fire its monitor units and recruit more muscle. Im not sure how long it lasts, just sit back and enjoy the ride and worry about what comes next when it stopps ;)

Mine went on for about 6 months, every week I looked bigger and stronger, it's a real tough slog to gain strength now but it's worth it

I feel old, I remember when Karky was on his 'noob gains' period.. Now he's telling people to enjoy it while it lasts lol

lol :p i wish i had trained more correctly in the beginning. I started out on machines, then switched to a crappy split i made myself, then i started full body :p never looked back

lol I have just done some deadlifts today for the first time.

I will post a video later so you can see how good or **** my form is.

I was ****** after doing the deadlifts

I can do all compound exercises except for barbell squats, I found a squat rack but the key thingy is missing for one of the bars.

I am shortening my workout

hmm, you should find a way to do squats. If you cant do regular squats, atleast get some single leg squats, like bulgarian squats in your routine. Maybe even hack squats. And yeah, post a video so we can take a look!

I can do dumbell squats, but I think I would only be able to lift up to a certain amount of weight.

I can't be putting huge 50lb discs on a dumbell lol

try bulgarian squats, they will most likley kick your ass. If they are too light for your rep range, just hold on to some DBs while you do them.

lol...my first way of working out was to hit every single machine in the gym twice over and call it a day.

lol, thats was me too! :p then i asked the trainer "whats best for the chest, the chest press machine or bench press" after that i started doing bench press.. aswell as the machine ofcource :p

My HS football routine was a split as follows:

DAY1: Bench Press (8 Sets)

DAY2: Squats (8 Sets)

DAY3: Arm Day

Nice huh? lol

hey atleast you did squats :p my routine consisted of LOTS of exercises, i think it was a 5 day split.. and it took 2 hours every god damned day :p

oh God mreik. That reminds me of this kid on my bus, this morning he was writing a last minute endurance training program. It basically went Bicep curls 3x10 leg curls 3x10 for 1 week, then increasing the weight by 1kg a week for 6 weeks.

Basically I sorted it a bit, then when he showed me the final product I nearly killed myself. It was like 6 sets of 10 benchpress. + every other exercise.

was for me...
