I wanna renew my appearance... I have pics

Hey, I'm John a 17 y/o turning 18 within 2 weeks, looking for a little guidance in the type of body image I want to achieve. I'm 5'8" and I weigh in at around 130 lbs. Now I'm looking to gain some muscle mass as well as increase my height. Is it possible to grow taller by running? It seems to be that I've stopped growing since I haven't been as active as I used to be and also I have a small appetite. I smoke cigarettes and I want to quit soon. I've tried cold turkey, but it doesn't help when I'm living with my mother when she's a smoker too.

I'm aspiring to become a model, so the body type I think I'll have to achieve will be lean, but with a little more mass and cut up muscles. My height also limits me since I'm only 5'8" and models tend to be around 5'11" and over. I want to know if there are any natural ways at growing a few inches.

I figured getting into jump roping may help since I don't have a gym membership at all. I think I'm going to buy one tomorrow, but more or less the questions that come up are:

-What can I do to increase my appetite?
-What foods are good to increase boy mass but not fat?
-Are there any foods, workouts I can do at home that can help me "stretch myself" or stimulate bone growth, or just the bodies growth mechanism itself?

By the way, I'm not into taking hormones or steroids.

Smoking really kills your appetite, so quitting smoking for one, would increase your appetite.

Anything high in protein will do the trick. Most meat products are very high in protein. Chicken, beef, fish, you get the picture...Don't like meat? That's just fine because beans, nut products, whole wheat pastas, dairy products and protein shakes have loads of protein in them.

Unfortunately no, there aren't any exercises that'll increase your height (that I know of, atleast). There is little or nothing at all that you can do to help your growth. Diet is important but at your age, even a good diet won't give you big results.
 
Yeah smoking is a killer. I quit by getting really sick and trying to smoke one and my throat started to close up(did the trick for me). To increase your appetite you can eat six times a day instead of 3. I have also heard rumors that drinking grapefruit juice can help increase your metabolism.
 
Also I have a question about what it means to have swimmers build. I guess I've always wondered how you achieve getting that type of body? Is it just from swimming laps in a pool?

Yes, a swimmer's build comes from swimming, but you can't just dog paddle around. I have a few buddies that are swimmers, and they say that you need to learn a bit of technique before you try to make swimming a big part of your workout.

Like everyone else said, cardio will be significantly harder if you're smoking, so the first thing you need to do is quit that.
