So I know I'm pretty new and all only lifting for two months but I want to share a piece of information that I'm sure everyone's heard a million times. Form is so critical. After being shocked from my gains (35lbs in some excercises) in just two months one of my friends who has been lifting for five years decided to come with me to see what kind of crazy excercises I was doing. However, what he found weren't impressive and innovative routines but major problems with forms (especially from the machines that I thought I had the hugest gains from). After correcting my form, going slow, and avoiding the false gains you get from momentum these 35lbs dropped to about 10-15. Also, I actually felt sore for the the first time in 3-4 weeks.
It kinda sucks that I realized I didn't get as strong as I thought I did but I can feel happy to know that in the future my gains will truly reflect my hard-work and cheating.
Anyways, I just wanted to let everybody know because even though I've read dozens of articles, lots of forum posts, and heard lots of people stressing correct form it is so easy to mess up if your not focused day in and day out.
Much love guys and hopefully this helps anyone. Experienced weight-lifting geezers please ignore my "duh" comments
