Working out with a bigger weight

I;ve been using a barbell that's way too light and became little more than a cardio for me. Now I'm going to buy 2 10kg weights to add on my barbell. This should give me a lot more resistnace and make it hard for me to do the same reps and sets as before(3*10)FOr growing mass would this be allrighty and would I be better off doing more high reps or less low reps?
I'm aware of the importance of diet.
Finally I want to warm up so as not to injure myself, could someone help me with one?
Thanks folks

Yeah that sounds alright but make sure that you are variating your workouts in rep ranges and exercises so that you dont become to used to it and slow down your muscles adaptations.

You may not be better of with either, I personally but this is just me prefer to vary the reps whitin sets eg. 12 - 10 - 8 or 10 - 6 - 6. It also depends on what you are training for there are countless ways to train but if you are wanting hypertrophy (size then the optimum rep range is between 8 and 12.

How this for a workout?this is what I used before though with lighter weights

3*8 swuats
3*8 deadlifts
3*10 benchpresses
3*8 bent over rows

New additions:

3*8 military presses
3*8 curls(not much good I heard but I want somethign which works the biceps directly)

For the curls and military presses I'll be using a much lighter weight as my biceps and delts stayed small.

Do you just have a bar any dumbells?

If I just had a bar and I wanted to add size then I would do a full body 3x a week

Deads
Rows
Bench
Incline
Military Press
Shrugs
Squats
Lunges

These are the types of exercises that I would use and I would vary them as much as possible.

I have a dumbell but I prefer my bar, I feel I make more progress with it.

Incline I can't do. I have a bench that's just the right width for benchpresses which I use.

Sorry to ask this but what's a shrug and how would I vary the exercises?Do you mean changing reps or the order the exercises are done in.

Just anything that gets the heart pumping the blood flowing and the mind thinking, skipping is always good. With those exercises I only listed two for each muslce group, Id use one per muscle group per day and pair it with an isolation if you feel the need but you probably wouldnt need to if you are working hard enough, there are countless exercises in the database on bodybuilding.com.

E.g one day you might do

deadlifts
Bench Press
Shoulder press
squats

and another

Rows
Shrugs
Pullovers
Squats

Just have a look and If you dont feel lie you are getting the volume you need then you can pair with isolations as I said.

With the exercises you reccomend, could you give me a sample plan for a week? Should I do squats, bench presses and deadlifts every time I work out.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate the help.
