my dad pays 300$ an hour

Your dad pays 300 an hour for a PT, Im sorry but either you are joking (which i hope you are) or your dad is quite a fool to be throwing away such large sums of money.

I'd pay Lv 300 an hr to train me at the gym. If I had that kind of money that is. lol

Why? Nothing against lv but you don't need his help.
People claiming they need a personal trainer because they're too lazy to learn about nutrition/exercises never cease to amaze me.

My dad also takes hydroxycut and eats Macdonald's daily. Of course he is a jackass. He has the money, also its 300$ a week but he only goes for 1 hour :p should have explained better.

I think Lv or Leigh who do this stuff for a living could explain it better then i but ill get it a shot.

People with children and jobs and house payments, usually do not have the time to go and "Learn" or maybe just don't have the "willpower" to do it, and a personal trainer (if he/she is good) can teach and encourage their trainee. Help them along, make them feel as if they are not alone in the process. They can take all of the knowledge thats scattered around many books and web pages and "compact" it in a way, to make it easier to understand.

As well as many other reasons, and lets not forget a good trainer can save someones life

Some people, as silent stated, just don't have the time to research the million varibales that come into play when it comes to this lifestyle. It's MUCH easier to have an intelligent approach laid out for you than to plug away at countless approaches for countless years that simply didn't work for you. To me, that's just a waste of time.

Why not hire someone you KNOW has been through it all, tried and tested MANY approaches and knows what works and what is BS.

Yup, I'm not a professional, a personal trainer or anything but I desperately wanted to (and want to) get in shape. I didn't have money for a personal trainer so I'm doing all the research I can possibly do. I went from knowing nothing about nutrition to knowing much more than the average person. I'm still learning a ton and am nowhere near where I want to be and it took me hours and hours of research and trial and error. I don't expect everyone to put forth this kind of time into it. I find it fasinating and want to start a career in it so it works for me.

In the end I'll still have to get someone in person to show me correct weightlifting though. For something like that you just can't beat one on one instruction.

Alright, you've convinced me.

I'm just a little biased since there are so many "useless" personal trainers out there (you know the kind).

Like the gal who was completely gorgeous but did her ab work in such a way that she walked around looking 5 or more months pregnant, and trained all her clients the same way? That kind? Or the ones who give you a bunch of pills and make you lift 100 reps with your biceps and call it a day?

I have to appreciate that some people are willing to get a trainer when they know they simply don't know enough, especially when they just don't like exercise, not that I can quite grasp that one, but if you are willing to pay someone because you know you need to be healthy, that is better than sitting on the couch all night, in my opinion. Of course, I get paid to motivate people to exercise, so I could very well be biased...

Sorry, didn't answer the question. It totally depends on where you live, and of course the experience of the trainer. Anywhere from $50 to $100 around here would be normal, but I don't know about in the gyms (or about their experience there).

Bicep curls get the curls. Thats what Hulk Hogan says.

Lol spell check Tony.
