Is resistant yoga going to hinder muscle growth?

So I started my weightlifting routine last week. I'm going to be doing a full body workout three times a week (Mon,
Wed, Fri). The thing is that I also love doing yoga. Obviously, the stretching is going to be great help to my weight lifting but what about some of the more resistant poses? I really enjoy doing the poses where you balance in a position for a minute or so and it takes a lot of leg, arm or core muscle. Is this going to be overtraining to my muscles if I do this on nonlifting days? How can I fit these poses into my week?

I guess the empirical answer is to try it out and see how you do. The way the classes were scheduled, I had yoga immediately before spinning - and found that I was better prepared for the spinning class when I had yoga before it, but that's me. Try it a few times to see how you feel then take it from there.

I just wouldnt weight train after yoga. Other than that I dont believe yoga to be that strenuos to hinder weight training progress. Plus if you really enjoy it, then there is no reason to not do it.

If it were me, I'd seperate yoga several hours prior or post lifting...or hey, on a whole different day altogether.

I just find the two to be in conflict when in such close proximity...but that might be a misconception I have. Do what works for you.

Well I was thinking of doing the resistance yoga inbetween lifting days. Some of the poses are tough to hold for a long time and I definately "max out" so to speak on them. I wasn't sure if holding a position for a long time uses your muscle differently than doing reps on weights. I was considering taking out Wednesday as a lifting day and instead just doing harder yoga. What do you think?

I hope I'm making myself clear.

Yoga on the off days should be fine...just make sure that you periodize your program properly and *possibly* reduce the overall volume of work if you begin to feel run down, but assuming proper nutrition and sleep and low stress levels, even that shouldn't be necessary. Enjoy :)
