Thinking about getting a protein suppliment

yeah.. only about 40gs of carbs in half a liter..

what about raisins?
carbohydrates 79 g
- Sugars 59 g
- Dietary fiber 4 g
Fat 0.5 g
Protein 3 g
Calcium 50 mg 5%
Iron 1.9 mg 15%
Potassium 750 mg 16%
Sodium 11 mg 1%

rich in carbs, low in fat. it even has some protein :p would that be acceptable? im just trying to save some money here, since the protein and carb powders are expencive here.
Will raisins be fast enough carbs?
the suggars are about 50/50 glucoses/fructoses

Glucose = decent, but not best, fructose is really not what you need.

Honestly though bro - check into that site Bulk Nutrition that was posted earlier, they ship to Norway and have really good prices as well. All you need is and , pretty cheap stuff that lasts a long time.

doh, just did some math, with the norwegian customs and everything the gouverment wants, its not that much cheaper :(

Just bought some protein and dextroses (sp?) got one of those wierd spoons with it, i guess one of those is 40g, which is what one portion is.
just bought some small pacs to see how it works and how it tasts, besides, the shop here only had small packs. next time ill buy from their store online, i can get a cheaper kind there.

If i take with me to the gym one bottle of protein and one bottle of carbs. should i drink some of the carbs during training and the rest after? My workouts are pretty long, mostly because i have to cycle (very low intensity, just to get the blood flowing into my knee) for 20 min after each of them (rehab for my knee injury) so im often in the gym up to 1.5 hours.

per 40g of the stuff has 38 g carbs. and ive been recommended alot more than that.. :S

I would say to get a lot of complex carbs in before your workout. During your workout, you should sip a mixture of protein and dextrose. Just make sure that it lasts through that 1.5hrs of training, you don't want a sugar crash right in the middle of it. Depending on your lean body mass, your amount of sugar will be different. Taking a guess, I would say to get in 45g of dextrose.
