Hello from not-so cold Boston

Hello from not-so cold Boston {UPDATE}

Hey Folks... I've decided that I want to be confident on the beach this summer, and I never get the motivation in time to make it reality. Now is the time I've decided.

About me:

I sit in front of a computer all day - no joke, it's my job.

I CAN eat well, a can or 2 of tunafish a day, wholesome foods, no soda, etc... But for the most part, I don't, and I have a hard time finding foods that work in a pinch during the middle of the day.

I ride motorcross (not competitively) from about April - November- My only outdoor activity.

Here's what I want.....

I need a little bit of a chest, and to just basically lose my inner tube that hangs around just above my belt. I know, I could probably use more work than that, but for now... I just want to be happy with myself.

Any suggestions?

Goals - Diet

OK, so first... my stats?

I'm 25 years old, about 5'9" and weighed in at 167 at the gym last night. No idea what my bodyfat is.

Long term goal is to stay trim. Just have a little more definition all around, and try to stay under 170 (I feel most comfortable around 155).

My diet = Sucks, it really does. I don't eat at specific times, and I usually only eat a couple times a day. Although, I don't eat too much junk food anymore, and I try to keep away from the obvious fats, and eat a lot of protein.

My workout:

Typically, I'm in the gym 3 or 4 times a week (I've just started back up) and I do something a little different. I do roughly 20-25 minutes on the elliptical machine, and then move over to the weight room. I don't have much of a regimen either. I always do abs... the one thing I can do regularly, and see some results, so I guess I hang on to it. Then I do a fly machine, because everytime I use free weights, I end up using more of my arms and shoulders.

I feel like I just don't know what to do sometimes, so I just stick to doing a couple things.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Have you talked to the trainers at your gym for advice? You might want to have them critique your form to make sure you're doing everything properly. Also, I've been told on this forum to do weights before cardio, which has been working out pretty well. That's about all I can think of offhand.

Update

OK, so it took awhile, but I've been in the gym almost all summer, and I'm very happy with myself. I've been losing weight by riding the stationary bike, lifting casually, and eating well. Fruits, veggies and protien is the rule of thumb for me.

I've dropped about 10 lbs since June, but my one question is: Why the crap can't I get rid of my spare tire?

I've read that lower abdominal fat is a trait of diabetics, which makes sense because it's in my family history.

What do I do? I'm finally getting results, and my body is becoming relatively toned and solid with that one exception.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I was just in Boston last week. And the bucs beat you bastahds Sunday night. Red Sox suck, but they have great fans (like me).

Central Mass rules.

oh, and welcome to the forum.

break a sweat, skip dessert, and you will make it.

p.s.
the spare tire!!!

i ditched sugar, added flax seed, flax seed oil, fish oil, and oats daily, along with a gallon of water, and zapped'em. oh, and i work out on average 2 hours a day.

welcome to the real deal!!!
