My first time seeing a personal trainer tomorrow. what to ask and what not to ask?

I am going in tomorrow for a trial session to check it out. I will do some speed/agility work and maybe some other stuff as well and it will only be a one hour session.

What should I ask or not ask?

What I would like to bring is a workout schedule I will make tonight or tomorrow regarding the sport I am training for and he can see if I need any changes or not? if thats a good idea? I have never been to one of these sessions with personal trainers before, so I don't know what to expect or what to ask and not ask. I wouldn't want to bring a workout schedule in and then the coach ends up not being able to read it or tell me anything regarding it other than whats worked out in the session.

I know I'm going to bring my gym clothes (shirt and shorts, sweatpants, and my running shoes). is there anything else I need to bring and I want to know if a workout schedule is okay or if the coach there will make one up for me and tell me what to do and stuff?

btw the one I am going to is from

I would ask the following

Have you ever worked with athletes?
Have you ever played X sport?
Have you ever trained anyone playing X sport?
What are the common injury sites and how are these best strengthened to avoid injury (aka rotator cuff in baseball) in X sport?

The PT should take into consideration flexibility issues, preventative measures, best carry over movements (we don't train linebackers like we do quarter backs or pitchers), and etc.

There are also other tests aside from if you're squatting more or whatnot to determine athletic improvement-has your vert. increased, has your sprint time increased, has your reactive ability increased, etc

These are starters.

Also, if the PT is any good and even worth considering paying, they will at least watch the sport you're playing to get an idea of motor patterns that should be addressed into the program.

yeah my sport I am training for is soccer. When I talked to the guy thats ahead of the place over the phone, he asked me what sport I play and what I would like to train for, etc. so he will get me a coach based on the answers I gave him (I hope). I will ask how much the coach knows about soccer and stuff. I will also mention that I play softball too, but I am training for soccer right now. speed and agility defiantly works for softball as well. I am also going to mention about my reaction time, judging, and focus needs to get better for fast movements (is why I didnt make the softball team for spring of 07 because my reaction and responding was slow). I will also ask like you said.. "have you trained anyone else that played soccer before?". these questions will most likely come up automatically.

and I dont even need to bring a workout schedule or make up one. It's the PT's job to do that and give me advice on what to do if he or she knows a lot about soccer and worked with a lot of soccer players or even softball or baseball.

Went to my free session of Velocity Performance yesterday and I liked it. My butt is tight from the squats and my back, teres major, legs kind of.... what we did...

stretched with rollers (quads and hamstrings), then carrioca, sprinting, running backwards, forward marching, sideways marching, one legged squats, push ups, scorpions on our backs, scorpions on our tummy's, circuit training for core (10's, 9's, 8's, 7's, 6's, 5's, 4's, 3's, 2's, 1's) with inverted rows (for me, push ups, and any kind of ab work we want), then foam roll.

I really enjoyed my free session and would like to become a member. =) the people that work there work with athletes of all sports and even professional athletes too..all ages. the lady that was working with me played softball in college and she also knows stuff about soccer too. =) I am training for both soccer and softball at the same time.
