Most efficient buttocks workout...

Well, the two key lifting exercises for the Gluteus Maximus is the Deadlift and the Squat. Lunges work the quads more then the glutes. Squats are generally a full leg exercise so I just added it in there, but a Deadlifts target is the glutes.
 
^^ I find them to work the butt the most as well, hard to walk out of the gym after your workout :)
