Another noob :)

Hi everyone, My name is Mark i reside in Australia i'm 19 yrs of age roughly 188cm, weight is roughly 105kg. Something i'm unhappy about and hopefully this site will help towards my motivation to getting 'Army' fit. I have only just come out of a 10+ hr night shift job so i barely did any excercise and my eating was appauling.

I have recently started to run. Although my chest feels like its going to explode, my throught feels raw and i have 'flem' build up. After a run i'm exhausted and feel like i could go to sleep. Is this simply cause i'm un fit and would walking / swimming be a better option to get started.

Anyway enough said i'm off to organise my first week of healthy eating.

Another question, numerous people have told me that chicken breast will give you man boobies is this true?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum Mark.

Chicken breast man boobies.... or not

I have heard this as well, but I have to say that I have eaten so much chicken in my life that if it does give you man boobies then I must be immune. The problem that people have with chicken is that they use steroids to grow bigger birds, and thus we supposidely see some of the after effects.

I would like to add to this that nothing you eat is perfect. Tuna seems to be great until you get mercury poisoning and trade physical fitness for mental capacity.

So:

1) Balance your diet, dont eat chicken for every meal, or tuna for every meal

2) Dont try to 100% change your diet all at once. Start by dropping a few of your personal bad foods (Cola's, Ice Cream, McDonalds) and slowly try to balance what you eat so that you dont have to count calories every meal, instead you will just be eating foods that you dont have to worry about.

In conclusion, getting in shape doesnt happen overnight, nor does it happen in the 6-8 weeks that miracle drugs claim. Take things slowly and make sure that you can maintain yourself after you get into the shape that you desire.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Welcome! I know that I personally started out doing exercises slower and less intense than now. I mean, for sure you have to build endurance. But I am no expert, I just know to "listen to your body". If you think it is too hard on your body, then maybe lessen the amount of time you are exercising or try to not do such an intense exercise at first. ??? Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. Already dropped some bad habbits and started a reasonably intense diet. Just gotta renew my gym pass and hopefully will slowly see the progress.
Thanks again and look forward to chatting an learning more..
