Sport the toilet and your metabolism

Sport Fitness
hey this might sound odd but...
2 people, one goes to the bathroom ( #2) couple times a day everyday. the second person would go everyother or every couple days (#2 as well)
now would you say that first person has a faster metabolism and that is why he goes to the bathroom so much b/c he digests his food faster than the second person?

my friend and i argue this, he says yeah its metabolism, i say that the first person just eats food higher in fiber compared to the second one

what do u guys think???

How often a person pees is not related to metabolism. However, I think the lack of water in #2s diet is probably hindering his/her fat loss. Water boosts the metabolism, mobilizes the lipids, flushes out toxins.

I don't think she was talking about peeing!

I don't have an answer, but I'm not sure if rate of digestion is related to rate of fat burning. Interesting question...

Could be both. Metabolism affects digestion, so yes, a faster metabolism would mean more frequent bowel movements, provided they have an adequate diet. Yet a person with a slower metabolism can still eat a lot of fiber and drink lots of water, and get up to speed with digestion and number of BMs. Does that make sense?

For example, the thyroid controls metabolism. A person with an underactive thyroid is constantly constipated. A person with an overactive thyroid has an increased number of bowel movements daily.

But diet can throw everything off! If you take 2 individuals who are equally healthy and have no digestive disease... give them the same diet, same amount of fiber and water... the person with the faster metabolism should have more BMs.

Just wanted to toss my experience out there: when I was younger I went number 2 once a week (horrible I know!). I was active, lean and fit with a "fast metabolism" at that time.

Fast forward a few years, I knew I had to take charge of my BMs. So I started eating healthier and reducing stress through yoga. I also got into a morning routine that left me calm and gave enough time for BMs to occur.

Too much info I know :) Point being I was always healthy, but the amount of stress and lack of focus on my bodyily functions left me backed up. I think it's a holistic answer.

There are way too many varibles to come to a solid conclusion on this. Age, sex, weight, height, diet, activity, medical history......just to name a few.

These can all be different in the two of you.

im just curious. why did u "know" u had to change your BM does it matter if u go one a week or more? why is it important if at all?

It's considered unhealthy to go less then once per day. I am not an "elimination expert" :) but I tend to agree with the logic. If you are not eliminating the digested food... it's being stored in the body.

Stored fecal matter results bad things ranging from acne, gastro-intestinal distress, stomach bloating, and possibly even cancer. It's all debatable and I am not knowledgeable enough to debate it with anyone... but I do agree with the logic :)

about bm's and health...

I have experienced a similar thing with bowel movements. I have found that the less stress I'm under, the more freely I go. I never really thought about it until now that I'm trying to get back into shape, and although I have more BM's than I used to, I am still having great difficulty losing weight, and building the muscle I had in previous years.

The original post was asking about whether or not it means you have a higher metabolism, and I'm wondering if besides the stress factor this might be true. Since I am approaching 30, metabolism plays a great role in body weight maintenance, and it would be really helpful to know. I have not tested my thyroid, but am not overweight, so I'm not sure if it should be something to worry about. So, anymore unabashed people out there willing to discuss how going number two plays into fitness?
