workout question

you should allways eat before you workout (lifting weights).

Running is a different story, some argue that HIIT is better in a fasted state, others say it doesnt matter.

However, if you are lifting, you have to fuel your muscles.

At least 3 meals in you before you lift.

I myself am a fasted man so I go on an empty tank in the AM for my cardio.

If you are not interested in burning more muscle than fat you will eat before working out. The only time you may fast and workout is when you are going to do LOW impact cardio.
The reason is you just finished fasting while you where sleeping. When you awaken, your body wants sugar.....if you deny it.....it will not go for the fat tissue (it needs fat for survival)....it will use muscle as fuel instead......oh ya, you'll lose weight....mainly all muscle weight.
Check out this for a great pre workout meal (proven clinically) that works whether you are bulking or cutting

Gatoraide and coffee? That's lousy pre-workout (or any time of the day) stuff to ingest!

Read the article a little more in depth..... I think you are missing out on key ingredients. But if you still think it's "lousy"......eh....can't please everyone

www.johnberardi.com agrees with trainerty here....Berardi suggests higher GI carbs in the meals before and following your strength training workout. Gatorade and whey, and if you need some energy go for a cup of coffee.

the rest of the day, you go with low GI carbs liek fruits and veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats.
