Personal Trainer question

female, 5 foot 2, 118 pounds. I don't know my body fat percentage but know it needs to be lower. I usually walk 3 miles 3-4 times a week and have just upped it to running 5-6 times a week. I am also working on adjusting the diet. I realize this is a thread for the guys but there isn't a thread for personal training for women. I contacted a personal trainer today. She was leaving for the weekend and said she would call me back Sunday night or Monday, depending on when she gets in. I told her what I am looking for and she said she hasn't done personal training in a while. Approximately 2 years ago she opened a small gym (something like a Curves) and has been managing that. We didn't discuss money. She asked me what I am looking to accomplish, I told her lower body fat and start weight/strength training. I need to learn good form. How much is the norm for a personal trainer? How many sessions should I start off with? Is it more if they come to your house? She lives a 1/2 mile from me and her gym is also a 1/2 mile from me. I went to her gym for a year but found it didn't work for me. Everyone I worked with went there after work also and I felt I never left work. She used to be heavy and lost a lot of weight and looks GREAT. She is what you would think a personal trainer should look like. Thats another thing - why do some personal trainers look like they need to take their own advice? I wouldn't go to them.

Well that's a pretty random post. :)

Yeah i wouldn't be too interested in a fat trainer. No idea how much she would charge but if she doesn't stress using barbells and dumbells i wouldn't be paying her very long.

Good luck.

I think anywhere from $30-100+ an hour, depending on location and trainer. It might cost more to have someone come to your house from the gym or training facility, or it could be about same if you find an at home trainer.

Thanks for both responses. I set up an appointment for tomorrow afternoon with a personal trainer. She said she will charge me $50 an hour. I thought it's high because someone I know who lives in the city pays $5o an hour and I'm in the country. I decided to go with her because I know her and will feel comfortable having her in my home. Yes she is going to use dumbells and a barbell with me. She asked me what equipment I have and I have them already. So wish me luck. Thanks again.
