female, 5 foot 2, 118 pounds. I don't know my body fat percentage but know it needs to be lower. I usually walk 3 miles 3-4 times a week and have just upped it to running 5-6 times a week. I am also working on adjusting the diet. I realize this is a thread for the guys but there isn't a thread for personal training for women. I contacted a personal trainer today. She was leaving for the weekend and said she would call me back Sunday night or Monday, depending on when she gets in. I told her what I am looking for and she said she hasn't done personal training in a while. Approximately 2 years ago she opened a small gym (something like a Curves) and has been managing that. We didn't discuss money. She asked me what I am looking to accomplish, I told her lower body fat and start weight/strength training. I need to learn good form. How much is the norm for a personal trainer? How many sessions should I start off with? Is it more if they come to your house? She lives a 1/2 mile from me and her gym is also a 1/2 mile from me. I went to her gym for a year but found it didn't work for me. Everyone I worked with went there after work also and I felt I never left work. She used to be heavy and lost a lot of weight and looks GREAT. She is what you would think a personal trainer should look like. Thats another thing - why do some personal trainers look like they need to take their own advice? I wouldn't go to them.
