dead lifts: the "miracle exercise"

people have told me to do my "deads" on my bicep/back day because they hit the back...2 days later and tommorow is legs day. I still feel it in my legs from the deads and i KNOW i want to do them again for legs. should i just save them for leg day or do them one or the other??

if doing them for legs do deads from floor...if doing for back do ina power rack with pins set at knee ht...i wood squats for legs and not deads but i wood probably rotate them in 4 weeks blocks or so

i have heard that answer before: do them from knee height
i dont understand...sorry... how can you do them from knee height???

He's talking about rack pulls. If you want a really good back program, follow this one I'd suggest taking a day to max out on deads to see where you stand.

What Swans is talking about is rack pulls or pin pulls. You can google these. I think deads are best thrown with legs seperated by a day or two from back. You can do deads and squats in the same session but I'd go lighter on one and heavier on the other.

I do deadlifts from the floor on my back workout day. I do squats on one of my leg days.

but I have two upper body routines and two lower body routines, on an 8 day rotation, spaced out so my back is never tired/recovering from deads on my squat day, and vice versa.

i never ever feel it in my back when i do deads; only my legs...how do you do the dead lifts so you feel it in your back???

Romainian deadlifts, rack pulls, conventional deadlifts. If you don't get a sore back doing these you are either doing them wrong or the weight is too light.

However, once you improve recovery levels soreness might not be an issue but the first few times you do any of the above lifts you should get a sore back.

ok. I just didnt know what kind of deadlifts to do ><. Thanks i will google search those. have any tips on increasing squat strength???

Go over to t-nation.com and look up Chad Waterburys Primed for Muscle program - i increased my squat by a good 25lbs in 4 weeks using that program.

However, its pretty advanced how long have you been squating?

Take your first month just learning how to squat. Work in the 3X12 area. Pay attention to what feels good as far as stance width, make sure toes are pointed out, shoulder blades squeezed together.

Yeah just learn the excercise for now - you should be able to add 5lbs most every workout for a few months.

Have a full breath of air before you decend and breath out has you rise.

ah ok thanks for the advice
