how long should an ab workout last??

1st off, how many sets should an abb routine consist of???

2nd, including a rest of 1 minute in between sets; how long should it last???

As long as it takes. Mind you, it's shown that interset rests (stopping for even 10 secs between reps) minimizes your gains. So, know them out, take a 60sec rest for your CNS to recover and knock em out again.

what if im doing russian twists with a 10 lb weight and i do as many as i can then i rest a minute and do another set
does that minimize my gains???

and by the way do u guys recomend doing really hard stuff for the abs first (like hanging leg raises) or at the end to just work them until they are dry?

Core work first, isolation last. Like all exercises. Leg raises and planks first, crunches and other stuff last.

Going to failure all the time is monumentally bad. It takes up to three times longer for the body to recover.

Once a month isn't terrible, but all the time is extremely bad.

again, if ur a newbie, u should know that you won't c your abs, though you do, but you have fat covering it.

doing ab workout 3 times a week is sufficient.

hmm...i believe in overloading the muscles and using more resistance next time to shock the muscles into growing; why is this bad???

i also cannot feel a good burn unless i go to failure in my exercises; i feel like i dont achieve anything doing a small ab workout.

ab work for beginners can actually lead to overtraining as it places a lot of stress on the solar plexes...vince gironda, known as bodybuilding's greatest guru, recommended this...point being? too many go overbaord with abs...if your using basic, compound lifts than you shouldn't need any work anyway...as well as a solid food plan

i work abs once a week and have been working them for 2 years

i DO do compound lifts and stuff but u dont get a six pack from doing lifts right???

isnt it true that you can get big abs though so that you can actually flex them and not just see theM?
