What muscles to pullups train?

Since this doesn't train only one muscle, i'm interested in knowing what muscles. I do pullups once or twice a week, because i don't only feel the back working, but also my whatever they are called, grip muscles?

Do pull-ups also train like biceps/triceps/shoulders/upper back/forearm/chest?

anyway it's a great movement, one of my favourites in the gym. I started out doing six sets of 2 reps each, and am now doing 5 sets of 4 reps each. I'm hoping to be able to do a max of like 20 pullups, or 6 sets of 6-7.

I love the pullup too.. be sure to use a FULL range of motion, let your arms extend completley when your down;) when i started doing that i really felt it in my lats.

Make sure you lean back as you do them, because a lot of time the problem is that you're using too much of your arms. I do 4 sets of 10 reps. My hands are also getting really calused because the pullup bar at the gym I go to is meant to have good grip, and it does, but it does so by scratching the surface off your skin with miniature spikes. Hehe.

Pullups do not train your whole body though, mainly your back, some biceps, and a little forearms as well

umm... i don't use a wide grip, does it matter?
The wider the grip the more lats it uses.. So it's just preference, but definatly go all the way down.

tricpes are a pushing muscle, so no they aren't trained.

basically: lats, traps, biceps, forearms, rear delts - are your primary movers.
