What do you think?

I'm a 19 year-old male, 5'11", 152 pounds.

I am in the middle of an intensive golf workout program at one of the nation's top athlete training facilities. I met with a nutritionist the other day and had my body fat tested for the first time. It is .08%. I was absolutely shocked to see it that low, as I once was surely well over .25%. But I still don't have the six-pack I want, and I'm wondering why not if I am only .08% body fat. I train heavily and work my abs hard 3 days a week. However, the one thing I do know is that right now I have very little fat but not a lot of muscle either. Would that explain why I don't have that "ripped" look yet?

Another thing...I currently eat between 2300-2500 calories. My nutritionist said to achieve my goals for lean body mass gain I need to be eating between 3300-3500 calories a day! I've tried it for the last two days and I feel like I'm eating SO much. Now, understand that this is 3300-3500 calories of EXTREMELY healthy food. I mean, I only drink water, and eat lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats - no exceptions. But here is my question: if I continue to eat 3500 calories (paired with 5-6 days/week of intense training), will I gain fat as well as muscle? That's the only thing I'm afraid of: gaining the fat back. I'm looking to gain about 12 pounds of muscle without sacrificing my body fat %. Do you think I'm on the right track?

I serioudly doubt that your body fat is that low, I don't even think that's possible. But only 152 at 5'11 is a really low weight.

With the food, are you spacing it out throughout the day?
You might put on a little fat, but not much to worry about. As long as your diet is in check, and of course the workout as well.

I think you must mean .08 or 8% body fat. That would be really low although 6-13% is in the range for an athlete. Did you use skin fold measurements or elcro resistance to determine you BF%? If it was the resistance kind (holding electrodes, standing on a scale) then you might have just been dehydrated.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Oops, I screwed up. I did not mean to say .08% - I meant to say .08, or 8%. Sorry for the confusion.

Phew ok good haha! Yeah, i don't even think that's possible like I said (below 1).

But you do need to up the calories, good calories, and space it out over a lot of snacks and meals.
