I'm a 19 year-old male, 5'11", 152 pounds.
I am in the middle of an intensive golf workout program at one of the nation's top athlete training facilities. I met with a nutritionist the other day and had my body fat tested for the first time. It is .08%. I was absolutely shocked to see it that low, as I once was surely well over .25%. But I still don't have the six-pack I want, and I'm wondering why not if I am only .08% body fat. I train heavily and work my abs hard 3 days a week. However, the one thing I do know is that right now I have very little fat but not a lot of muscle either. Would that explain why I don't have that "ripped" look yet?
Another thing...I currently eat between 2300-2500 calories. My nutritionist said to achieve my goals for lean body mass gain I need to be eating between 3300-3500 calories a day! I've tried it for the last two days and I feel like I'm eating SO much. Now, understand that this is 3300-3500 calories of EXTREMELY healthy food. I mean, I only drink water, and eat lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats - no exceptions. But here is my question: if I continue to eat 3500 calories (paired with 5-6 days/week of intense training), will I gain fat as well as muscle? That's the only thing I'm afraid of: gaining the fat back. I'm looking to gain about 12 pounds of muscle without sacrificing my body fat %. Do you think I'm on the right track?
