Decline Bench

I just have a quick question about using the decline bench. I can do 10 reps of 135, 8 of 145, 5 of 155, etc...I was just curious what weight I should start with. Would it be smarter to do high reps with less weight, or few reps with much reps? Also, what weight should I start with?

Thanks guys -

i am going to take it that this is your first time doing decline bench, for what it is worth i would suggest that on your first session try a low weight and concentrate on form as movement is going to be slightly different then what you are used to. Then you will be better placed to judge a weight for your second session but still concentrate on form and then by session 3 you should have a fair idea of what you will be able to do

Yea, this is the first time I'm attempting to decline bench...so I have no idea on a "starting point". I guess I'll just focus on form for the first couple times - thanks for the help.

Well I do a warmup set at 135 of 8 reps. You should definitely stick with a light warmup set. All you can do is 5 at 155? If so then I would work at that weight with 3 sets or so of 5.
