overtraining by farm work

I got home today after working out, and my dad made me do some farmwork. It involved lifting about a total of 50 50lb bags of soybeans into a pickup over a few hours. I didnt realy want to do this because I thought it would kind of be overtraining (used same muscles), and thought it would burn a few calories (bulking). Am I overtraining or overreacting? (haha)

Overtraining if you keep it up. Once or twice isn't a big deal. If you're going to be doing this thing repeatedly, you might want to change your workout routine. Gotta keep priorities.

I agree. once in a while, not a big deal..but if it's several times a week, then you should count that work as part of your workout, and adjust your routine around it.

farmers, ranchers...they may not often look very muscular, but they aren't eating or training for size. many a friend of mine have been ranchers, and they were all far stronger than you'd expect.

Scale down your workouts and your body will adapt and then you can slowly increase your workouts again.

Ack...soybeans. Ironically, I'm reading a book called The Whole Soy Story by Kaayla T. Daniel, PhD, CCN. 300+pages on the evils of soy.

Check it out
The FDA lists soy in its "Poisonous Plant Database." This search brought up 256 references, including studies that warn about goiter, growth problems, amino acid deficiencies, mineral malabsorption, endocrine disruption, and carcinogenesis.
