Bodyshape problem, muscle reduction

Not sure if this is thr right forum but here goes:
Im male, 20, and weigh around 65kg.

My problem is that my bodyshape is out of proportion. I have a skinny upper body, but my lower half - legs and hips, are rather bulky because I used to do loads of squats.
Ive been told to overtrain my legs using lunges and lots of reps to reduce the size. Can someone tell me if this will work and how it works?
I am currently following a healthy diet, eating meals with carbs and protein 5/6 times a day. I do cardio using an exercise bike 4 days per week.

I havent started an upper body routine yet but will do so soon. I only have dumbells to use when I do start.

Can someone please advise if following this routine will help me reach my goals (the goal being to reduce the size of my legs/hips)? I worry that by doing so many lunges I may end up with bigger legs. What diet should I be following - a fat loss one?

whoever told you to overtrain should be beat up-side the head. stupid advice.

rather, don't put a huge emphasis on the lower body. stick to heavy weight and low reps to keep the strength up, but limit size gains. I'd do upper body 2x a week, and lower 1x a week, untill you're more proportional.

If you want to bulk the upper body, you can't go on a cutting diet. you need extra calories to add mass.

overtraining does tear down muscle, and doesn't allow it to repair itself normally. it also weakens joints, and wrecks havoc on yoru central nervous system, which will affect your upper body development, and general health/mental disposition.

overtraining to reduce muscle size is about as smart as taking a potato peeler to your quads to shave em down to a desired size.

You don't want to overtrain. Theres nothing wrong with having a larger lower body, than upper. Just work more on your upper body, and you'll soon look better.

To overtrain you need to push your body WAY too far, which isn't easy. Not only that, it's also HORRIBLE on your body...
