change too drastic?

i think my problem is that i make too many changes in my diet overnight...the night before i start ill be eating like crazy, then the next day all i can have is a slim fast shake, a bowl of raisin bran, or a salad as a meal choice, and then once i eat dinner i want to keep eating and cant fight the cravings, and before i know it my diets over...i know about people saying to make small changes overtime, but i dont want to wait that long to finally see results, and i dont feel that tiny changes will show any difference at all, so i guess im impatient in the process...

Know thyself.

If you have a lack of self control, then just gradually change your habits. An easy way to do this is to throw away all your junk food and start good eating habits at the grocery store. Stick to the outer lanes of the grocery store, where they keep all the fresh produce. It's easier to refrain from junk food if you have none of it in the house.

If you have tons of self control then doing two slim fasts a day with a salad for dinner is just a fun challenge-the starvation cravings are just signs that you're winning over your body.

I usually go back and forth between the two extremes.

Also try eating more earlier in the day. For example my largest meal is breakfast , then it gets smaller and smaller for each meal, - the last meal is the smallest,
Eating 5-7 meals really does help

I disagree, regardless of how much "self-control" you have you should never feel "starvation cravings."

I don't want to be mean but people have told you 20+ times to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day. Just do that as much as you can (I know it's hard in school) and it WILL work. You also need protein and carbs in each meal.

NOTHING is going to work instantly/quickly. Are you exercising at all?

ya, sometimes when i blow my diet for the day i just feel like any intense exercise is worthless, or maybe im just too tired to do it...but most of the time i DO lift with an organized workout, and i play basketball or ride my bike for cardio

You are not being mean... That said, I'll be the mean one.

...for now, let's forget the diet. Since there is no way you will ever take an avice and change your way of diet. Don't feel bad. You won't be the only one. If it was easy, there will be no need for forums like this.

How about this? Get a exersice plain. Try running, it does not have to be long. Lets call it level 1 running, you will run every day for 30min (look up hiit).
Just keep your normal diet for now. Unless it's fast food every day. Sure cut down on pop, and chips. But the main point is keep running for a month. Don't wieght your self every day and keep running. <remove the idea of your weight from your mind. Don't think about it>

You will feel better and get better from month of running alone.

You will not lose 1lb a week just running (hell even with a good diet and workout that is hard) but you will feel better and will some lose weight.

This will be your steping stone.

Stick to running for a month and see if you can do it... 20min - 30 min of running - jogging... don't cheat your self.

If you can't even stick to running, then I'm sorry. <I hate when I am mean> You will not change.

newlook, that's a good plan!

You're probably too tired to do it. I feel the same way when I eat a bunch of junk. I don't feel like working out hardly at all. Luckily it's part of my profession so I end up doing it anyway and I usually feel better afterwards... but I can forget about my own workouts if I just ate a bunch of crap. In fact, the way I feel after eating junkfood makes me wonder why I ever DO want to eat junkfood. I still do though sometimes but EVERY time I wonder why!
