Too Few Calories?

My friends and are are having a debate, One friend thinks that she can eat around 500 calories a day and still be healthy but just lose weight really fast. We've been trying to tell her that as long as she working out (which she does on a daily basis) that she needs to eat to stay healthy. She insist that she's fine.
Are we wrong is she going to be okay keeping up this lifestyle? Could anyone provide me with links that might help us expalin our point to her?
Thank You in advance for all your help.

500 calories is like 1-2 meals a day from what I've read in the forum your friend needs to eat at least 5-6 small meals a day one protein one carb as Trainer lynn would tell us I can't possibly imagine your friends is getting all the vitamins and protein in just 500 calories. If you want to stay healthy and maintian a healthy weight you need to eat, I used to eat like once a day and it got me nowhere now I eat 5-6 times a day and I feel a huge difference

Your friend will become very sick and unhealthy looking if she stays with 500 calories a day. Here is a link to help her figure out how many calories she needs in order to lose fat, if that is her goal.

I honestly doubt that ur friend is eating 500 cals. I used to under count my calories for the day by for example for breakfast i would only count the calories it said per serving when realy i was have a plate full so thats way more then what i thought.

No, you absolutely cannot be healthy eating 500 calories unless you weigh about 30 pounds. She will feel weak and awful. I used to eat about 1000 calories per day because I didn't know any better and I felt lethargic and exhausted all the time...also cranky!!

She is seriously couting these calories closely looking at portion sizes and measuring out her food like she will only eat a cup of rice for a meal.....
Can anyone tell me what it will do to your body if you don't eat enough calories? I'm looking for something graphic so that I can convince her that there are better ways to go about losing weight. She claims that she has plenty of energy and that she feels fine. Common sense just isn't working with her......

Im sorry to hear about your friend. It looks like s/he may be heading down the path of an eating disorder. The only thing I can suggest is letting her know that you care about her/him and that you are concerned.

If this person is underage... you may want to alert the parents or someone who can handle this more efficiently.

I don't have any graphic items on my computer, but let your friend know that people in a coma get 1200 calories per day. And not to be disrespectful... those in a coma just lay there and do not move.

Good luck.
