Weight Watchers

I was told that Weight Watchers system really works...that it is amazing!!! Do smb know is it true? Does smb have such experience?

I know people that it did work for however if your goal is to slim down and maintain the muscle you have or build some lean muscle then Weight Watchers is not the ideal system IMO.

It's not really based on a diet of someone who trains. They say you can have a piece of pizza which basically equals xxx amount of points. So basically if you exceed the amount of points your allowed in a day by 5pm. Then they don't advise you to eat anything after that..

respectfully disagree

I've been using weight watchers online for 3 months now. I'm not in "training" but I do workout 5 days a week. Weight watchers is great because it is extremely flexible. The point values used to track what you eat are calculated based on a combination of calories, fat and fiber. You get a certain amount of daily points based on your weight. You also get 35 flex points that you can spend at any time during the week. In addition, you gain activity points for your workouts. On days when you need the extra points, you can swap out activity points for more food. Weight watchers is based on the simple principle that in order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. It's a simple way to attain healthy weightloss. If that is your goal then I would recommend checking it out. You can always sign up for a month to see if it's for you.

The fact that weight watchers allows you to eat junk (of course that uses up your points), is a recipe for an unhealthy lifestyle. I also found it very difficult to use it as a real lifestyle. The accountability aspect was good, but they don't advocate exercise....which isn't good............but you get more points if you do. Bottom line is there are better ways to true lifestyle change.

If weightwatchers really worked i suspect the business would have gone under long ago.

I dont doubt the healthy eating aspects are good but nothing that you couldnt do yourself; the social side is great for some people, so if you do make sure your 'diet' is geared towards what you want and need. I suspect the majority of WW users dont do a great deal of resistance training or intense cardio, both would need a tailored diets.

My opinion

Let me start by saying that I have no FIRST-HAND experience with Weight Watchers. I just know the concept behind it, have read about it, and I watched a friend do it. I think it's good for people that are significantly overweight because it keeps their eating at healthy amount of calories. If you just have a few pounds to lose though or if you are interested in losing that last 2% of bodyfat I don't think it'll work.

I agree with most of the above posts. Weight Watchers will work for some people, mostly those who have NO idea what a good meal consists of. To those people a pizza or other entree is ideal.

However... it is expensive and can get very very confusing for most folks. The person above seems to have a great handle on swapping points and trading them in for meals, etc. That person also partakes in an exercise program (good for you!)

People see results. I have had clients use it and see results. But once they stopped buying the meals or keeping track of points... then they gained the weight back.

Nothing replaces a lifestyle change. Eating a protein and a carb at each meal is the way to go. Eat every 2-3 hours to curb cravings. Eat 5-6 times a day. That is way cheaper. There are no points to swap or count (reminds me of the stock market!).
