Need Help Advice tips on Abs and getting them toned!

OK heres my background and status quo:

Male
19 years old
5 Foot 8
Aprox. 150lbs

Basically, I havn't EVER ran a strict work out routine or ever weightlifted. I have a very average build. Im not worried about stregth or anything, basically I just want to have toned abs/stomach area. I wouldnt say that Im fat at all. My stomach isnt really "fatty" its not like a flab that hangs over my belt, but more of a "beer belly" (i dont consume alcohol at all) but it some what sticks out a little bit. Which seems to be kind of a trend in the males in my family with a big stomach sticking out, but i think thats more so due to age/real beer belly.

A couple months ago I attempted to start an ab workout routine which consisted of........
1st i do 1 set of 10 push-ups and alternate with 10 situps. I then continue to do the sets of 10 pushups, but for the situps i add a 25lb round weight and hold it on my chest. after about 8 sets of 25lb situps i add another 10lb round weight so i am doing 35lbs on situps for 2 more sets. So thats 10 sets of situps and push ups. after that i do like one set of crunches with nothing.
after about a 5 minute break i would run about 1.5miles with only walking for a min at the halfway point. I did this at like 11pm at night cuz that was the most convienent for me.

I dont go to the gym or anything cant really afford the memebership. so at home ideas and tips are the best.

Currently i am working in a sub shop. so during the workout i would just eat lettuce wrap sandwhiches (no bread) without any mayo or cheese. (2 of these a day)

First I would like to know if that was a good work out routine in order of starting to work on toning my abs
2nd i would like to know if eating like that would be a good or idea or not a big deal
3rdly. if that is a good routine, how often should i do it, 4 times a week? every other day?
4th. id like to know what kind of diet things should i limit my self to.
Lastly, ANY ADVICE WHAT SO EVER would be greatly appreciated

thanks for reading and helping!

OMG I DIDNT REALIZE THIS WAS A WOMENS SECTION LOL SO SORRY!!!
(but if you do have any help id still appreciate it)

You are right, you dont need a gym to get 6 pack. They say a 6 pack is made in the kitchen.

You want to make sure you lose the thin layer of fat covering the abs first. Here a my links to good 6 pack abs exercises...

Reverse crunches are particularly helpful. Here is the link...

Am sure you will get lots of good advice here.

All the best.

Cathy.

First off, you need to get the fat off your stomach... 80% of your success is going to come from your eatting habits ... Not doing ab exercises and just running, that's only 20% of your success...

1.) Look up your calorie expenditure...
2.) Subtract 500 calories from what you got... that is your daily intake.
3.) Take that number and multiply it like below...

Daily Intake * .6 = Carb Calories
Daily Intake * .2 = Protein Calories
Daily Intake * .2 = Fat Calories

Carb Calories / 4 = Grams of Carbs
Protein Calories / 4 = Grams of Protein
Fat Calories / 9 = Grams of Fat

4.) Spread your daily intake into 4-5 small meals throughout the day, eatting about every 3 hours...

Your muscles burn calories to maintain themsevles as well as for energy... so you should be doing total body resistance training, rather than just abdominals and push-ups... because your legs alone will burn more calories than your abdominals...

You need to do this CONSISTANTLY! in order to see any results... and a good chunk of your results are not going to come for a good 2-3 months (but then that depends on you and your body)
