White mustard comes from areas of North Africa, Mediterranean, and the Middle East. Brown or Indian mustard comes from the Himalayas, but is grown in US, UK, and Canada. Canada alone produces 90% of the world's mustard seed, and Saskatchewan, Canada produces almost half of it.
Mustard is primarily used for culinary purposes as a spread for many different foods. It is also has a high oil content which is used in the production of biodiesel.
