on those days where you just don't want to exericise at all? You're lacking motivation and you feel like giving up. What motivates you? Because I heard the hard part is getting started, then once you start exercise, you get into it and keep going.

any advice?

:)

You don't do it that one day and then the next day it's suddenly easier to not do it again. I saw this happen to myself a few times and then just got sick of it.

Running or exercising when I really don't want to just gives me more motivation to continue the next day... I haven't had a day where I really didn't want to run in a while though, at this point it's just something I love to do.

I have alot of days where Im tired and just want to be in bed instead of working out. (I go to the gym after work, and my shifts are about 10 hrs long so im beat after work) What keeps me going is my weight loss group at work, I know im going to get weighed in every week and this could add money to my pocket or take it out....and just the fact of knowing that if I dont put in the work, this weight just isnt going to come off by its self. I think to myself "you want to be sexy sooner than later, so go to the gym!" lol ....hope this helps.

for me i just think how far i have come and it motivates me. it is also habit at this point. i also motivate myself by looking at my before and after pictures and by surfing this forum. there are always going to be those days were you dont want to exercise, but if you let it happen once, you will let it happen again, then you are back were you started. keep it up, it will get easier.

Thanks guys! the advice is really helpful. :)

It also helps to think that if you stop exercising, it all comes back so that makes me want to keep going.

Thanks!

sometimes I find myself wanting to skip out on my workout because it's my only time when im not bombarded by kids and such. i only have about 2 and a half hours but it would just be the prefect time to get extra work done around the house in peace. but you know what? it's been this way too long and it's time to take care of me. this is more important. everything else can wait until later.

I agree with all the posts above. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get your ass in gear and go. Those are the times you walk out of the gym even more motivated because you did go.

However, sometimes if you have been going and going and your body is screaming for a break, you have to give yourself one. You will get to know the difference between be lazy and being exhausted from giving 110%.

I have no choice but to exercise as diabetes runs in my family. I need to stay healthy in so many ways. i have a huge fear of developing diabetes.

I am not overweight, just aware of health risks. That is my main motivation and also being an excellent role model for my children.

It realy stinks because I'm in Massachusetts and I just started jogging. I was getting really into it and then it snowed yesterday. Only a bit, though. I was still able to go, but I'm hoping we don't get anymore snow around here.

I also try to switch things up. I do a little bit of everything... tummy exercises (that's my biggest obstacle), jogging, dancing, and today I went to the gym :)

This forum really keeps me motivated.

Whenever I'm feeling lazy I take a picture of myself, and remind myself of how great I'm going to look and feel versus now, when I've finally reached my goals!

I just think how tired I'll feel the next day if I don't get up and do something. That or I'll think about something completely crappy that someone has ever said to me.
Example: your thighs are big. (Which was said to me by someone who is about 90 lbs heavier than I am right now.)
Well, now my thighs aren't as big because that apparently pissed me off enough to make me get up and do something about it. Anger is my motivation I guess.

I wish I had an answer for this. There is a 50/50 chance Ill actually go do cardio on the 2 days I do it. What doesn't seem to fail is putting on my workout clothes. At that point I feel kind of silly not going.

i have found that if I simply am not motivated one day that I need to push through it. But if it becomes a trend and I really am feeling sluggish and not motivated that I either need to back off on my intensity or switch up the workout I do.
Pushing through it is not always the best thing- sometimes the body simply needs a rest.
