toning arms

It seems my arms are one of the last places I'm losing fat. I have to wear a sleeveless dress next weekend. I'm wondering if there is anything extra I should be doing to help make my arms look as good as possible? I currently do about 40 pushups and 6 pullups/chinups a day. Should I use weights? Add more cardio to lose more fat? Also, I eat about 1500 calories in 3 meals.

Hi there, I have been struggling for quite some time to get better sculpted arms, I had been doing multiple pressups and was not getting what I wanted, i found that tricep kickbacks work well (you'll need weights) although it's not a quick fix for your up and coming weekend, it would definatly be worthwhile including it in you excercise regime.

Tricep Kickbacks

* Hold a dumbbell in each hand and stand with your feet hip-width apart with a slight bend to your knees.
* Bend over at the waist so that your torso is slightly above parallel with the floor. Bend both elbows so that your upper arms are locked at your sides parallel to the floor.
* Keeping your arms still, straighten your arms behind you until the end of the dumbbell is pointing down toward the floor with your palms facing in towards your body.
* Hold for a beat and inhale, slowly lowering your arms back to the starting position, and repeat.

Personally I'm not a fan of this exercise at all. The biomechanics of it are such that don't allow you to use adequate weight and you only get an adaptational response from your body/muscle if you provide an overload.

It's much easier to overload the muscle if you choose a tricep exercise such as french press, skill crushers, close grip bench, or even pressdowns.

On top of this, no exercise is going to 'tone' the arms. Toning is a function of fat loss and muscle maintenance.
