Spin Classes

They have beginner ones at my gym. I have yet to take advantage of any of the free classes (they have yoga and stuff too.)

Anyone have anything to say about them? I've heard its rough, but the beginner ones encourage you to slow down if its too much for you. Its something I wouldn't mind doing maybe once a week if I could handle it. Having a set appointment for things works very well for me, which is partly why I miss being able to afford a personal trainer.

Just looking for any input anyone has on them.

Classes are not my thing at all...

but most spin classes it's all about the heart rate (at least in the last two gyms I've belonged to)-you'll wear a heart rate monitor during classs (usually provided by the class) the room is darkened (which is good so you can't see what the person next to you is doing and vice versa), and there is usually music.

And you spin and spin and spin and different intensities working within your own heart rate...

They are intense.
As classes go, they are more guy friendly than other classes that gyms offer that are usually estrogen dominated.

Try it - what have you got to lose? If you like it - great if you don't - you've lost 45 minutes of time...
