Some Advice

Hi Guys,

so am three weeks in two training now, first 3 weeks consisted of weights and small bike work three nights a week to build my self up for longer nights workout in the house.Im averaging 9 miles in 30 minutes on my bike and adding 5*20 sit ups and 5 *20 bench press, tuesday thursday and saturday consist of an hour on the bike, which is about 18 miles,

Will this be consistant enough to shift weight, or will i need to do more...

thanks for any advice in advance
 
unless your caloric consumption is under control - it's tough to say...

current stats.. age, height, gender, weight, how long you've been at this.

Im 22 years of age, 13 and a half stone/189 lbs , 6ft 2, male, and ive been doing this now for 3 weeks......
 
At 6'2 you probably don't have all that much fat to lose. As Mal said, your primary focus should be good nutrition (adequate protein and healthy fats) and for optimal results, you should be putting a much larger emphasis on weight training and not such a focus on endurance based work.

That is, unless you're training to be an endurance athlete.

If you're simply working out to look better... I'd switch some things around.

Even if your weight training was adequate, it's severely imbalanced.
 
its more of a getting back down to the weight i was than looking built steve...

ive gained more of a beer belly than anything, and its something i want to get rid of....

is the bike work im doing more suited now or not !?
 
What I'm saying is things don't work like that. Losing weight is simple. Simply get yourself in a caloric deficit, which you can do through a combination of controlled nutrition and exercise, and the scale will fall over time.

But I highly doubt you're solely interested in the scale.

If you simply focus on the scale, with no real concern for maintaining muscle as you diet, more than likely you aren't going to be all that happy with the end result.

What you're saying here is, "I don't care what I look like, I just want a scale that measures my fat, bone, muscle, glycogen, water, poop, etc to read a certain number.

I doubt you mean that.

I would be genreally happy just to get back down to the weight i was which was 12 stone.....
 
Ok... then you're only prerogative should be maintaining a caloric deficit. It doesn't matter how you do it.

Worship oh powerful scale gods.
 
You're not seeing the forest through the trees here.

If you were, you'd know that the question you asked in unanswerable. We've concluded that for your goal of reaching a particular weight you must be in a caloric deficit.

Read that again.

Now, knowing this, how am I supposed to answer your question without knowing anything about your caloric intake?
