situp bench incline?

I have this situps bench that can be flat, or at an incline. My question is, am i losing anything by only doing inclined situps? they seem more difficult/ strenuous as my abs are more sore after working them so im guessing they are better? also anybody have any tips on how to not make my head tilt forward, i can keep it straight on the flat regular situps but the incline makes it areal hassle. thanks for the help.

Yes, you can be cheating yourself when doing sit-ups on an incline. People tend yo cheat by using their leg muscles and hip flexors to pull their torso up. Even though your abs may hurt you may not be working them completely. One way to work your abs the most is to use a lesser range of motion with your torso. Focus on only your lower back touching the bench and only going up (as far) until your torso is at a 90 degree to your femur. this way you are never taking tension off of your abs. To keep your head/neck straight when doing incline sit-ups put a ball under your chin and pick a spot on the ceiling to look at while you are doing your sit-ups. This ball under your chin will help you keep you from titling your head forward. Or you can just pretend you have one there. That's what I always tell my clients. Just to pretend that they have a ball between their chest and chin.
