new to workout/drinking protein

hi guys,
i just recently started working out and drinking protein shakes, but have not really researched much about it.

i'm just wondering if working 5 times a week (each of them consist aorund 30minute) and drinking protein shake (with milk) everytime after the work out is a good way to gain muscle mass or not.

each of those workout consists pushups, situps, and dumbells. i'm currently taking QuickMass by ALLMAX and around 2 scroops with 2 cups of milk.

please give me some advice and comments.
cheers.

I can tell you that when I was still in college studying kinesiology that when one of my buddies asked our exercise physiology professor if he wasn't getting enough protein from the shakes he drank that she flat out berated him, namely because he'd asked similar questions in her other classes and he never got the hint. Unless you're not eating any protein rich foods or working out like a professional or Olympic athlete, then you don't need to spend all that money on protein shakes. In fact, I read recently that you should skip the protein mix and go straight for the milk about an hour after exercise. It is more readily absorbed and provides a better protein, carb, and fat balance post workout than the shakes do. In any event, you don't really need all the extra protein if you are eating a healthy diet, as excess protein in the system gets converting into fats for storage and it can greatly tax the kidneys to do so.

I recommend that before you start to drink to read more about it because it is not a joke. You can more harm than it helps.
