My Body Fat %

Had my weight and height and fat % done. Aparently i am 181cm tall, 69.4Kg and i have a fat % of 7.8, thats 5.4Kg.

Is that good or bad? Im not sure wether to be happy or sad about it.

Thats considered way too low and very unhealthy.
Would you say you were very skinny?

If you're not trying to stay skinny through diet, then you qualify as a 'skinny guy' and probably a 'hard gainer'.

if you wanted to pack on muscle, you'd wanna pick up a copy of Scrawny to Brawny by Dr. John Berardi. its an eating program designed for guys like you.

whoa i was always under the impression that under 10% just meant you had a 6-pack. I'm currently around 14% or so, should i not get any lower? was going to shoot for 6-7.

They're talking of his height/weight ratio, not so much his bf%.

Anything over 5% is A okay.

You need to dip under 10% for a 6-pack to show all the time. if you have good abs, at 10% you can probably flex & twist to show them off well.

to put in into perspective, bodybuilders will dip down to around 4% bodyfat just for the day of the competition (using stuff like diuretics and zero carbs or sodium for 48 hours)

of course within 24 hours after the pose-down, they'll be back up to 6%. they are kinda masters at controlling their body composition.

I don't think 7.9% is unhealthy. I think it's at 5% or less it becomes dangerous.

Hmmm ya, i had mine done at the beginning of September and I was 6.5% then. I don't beleive that it's bad to have it low. The trainer at the gym that did it for me was surprised and he said that "That's very good!" So i think he knows what he's talking about. The essential body fat for a male is 4% and it's like 8% or higher for a girl. So according to that anyhting above 4% is still healthy.

Then again just cause it's low that doesnt mean that it's good. I think taht it makes gaining at the gym harder. I have to eat tons, and i'm on a 4000-4500 calorie diet.

well.. basically i saw this machine in the officei n hte gym, asked if i could have a go. He popped in all my info, and hten i had to take my socks off and stick them on some metal plates. then it took my weights and did all this working out.

Oh, and the bloke at the gym also said its very good. And everyones recommending these scrawny to brawny things, im not that skinny! i dont have a six pack, you can just about see a faint outline, but thats about it. I was about 7 stone 2 years ago, and sincei started training i put on a hel of a lot of weight.

Those typ of meters have a margin of error of about +-10%, in other works a 2sec glance in the morror and a wild guess will get you a better estimate..

The trainer at the gym is only 50% accurate +/- 10% - Fact.

They are not 98% accurate thats bull.

Going back to wat you said earlyer about above 4% being healthy, thats also rubbish.
4-5% of your body fat is your veins , skin and such. Any less and you'd be dead.

Look, all of you on this thread who are saying that you have such low body fat levels are incorrect. Maybe a "trainer" told you that you are sub 8%, but they were probably very bad at taking body fat readings or they used very poor and inaccurate means of evaluating your body fats. If you are sub 8, you are going to have very detailed definition unless you have absolutely no muscle what-so-ever.

And whoever said that scrawy to brawny is not for them because they don't have abs.....haha, you have a lot to learn. Buy the book and worship it because it would work wonders for you.

Word. Listen to the man.
