I'm a fattie and need help please!! (no I wasn't an AA)

Hi all,

So I've finally admitted it - I'm offically fat. Its been coming for some time, I've done some quick diets in the past and seen quick results (lost a stone in a month) but it all came back with some extra for company.

So now I want to do it right and could really use some help, I'm reading the stickies now but I'm sure some people out there will have some really useful ideas, so please help.

Personal data: I'm 28 years old, 6'7'' (or around 205cm metric I think), I've put on 3 stone in the past 3 years (since leaving the police force to move to Ireland) and now topple at 20 stone 6lb (286 pounds, or 130kgs ish) Waist: 44, Hips: 44, Chest: 48, Thighs: 32.

BMI is: 32 and BMR score was: 2656 (which worked out at 3187 calories with no activity)

Think thats all I have. My target is to get back down to 17 stone again.

Prior to this week I did no training, have a desk job and ate completely wrong. No wonder I put so much weight on!

So any thoughts on where to start / excerise tips etc. I've put a rough schedule together based on what I used to like (boxing) and through some ab training. I've managed to keep it up since Monday and don't see why I couldn't continue, but will it do me any good?

Monday / Fri: 15 min heavy punch bag work (harder than it sounds!)

Tues / Thurs / Sun: 30 mins elliptical walker

All days: 4 reps of 30 abs assited with rocker machine.

I guess the above is better than nothing but if anyone has any thoughts more applicable to my build / weight etc I'd appericate it.

On a positive side I will say that although all the sites / calcs show me as extremely overweight I can still workout (as I've seen this week) I could handle small slow runs (say 5k over 30 mins maybe) if that's a more suited excerise?

Food wise I've stuck myself on a diet, started Monday and didn't keep to it. So I've modified it and starting again tomorrow, feel I'll be able to keep it now as I've increased it to a reasonable level, and cut out the gallons of fizzy drink I used to have (normally a can or two a day)

Breakfast: high fibre ceral.
Mid morning snack: fruit (probably pineapple as I don't like much fruit)
Lunch: Maximuscle Diet Bar (High protein) or Slim Fast
Afternoon: fruit (pineapple again I suppose - say hi to the loo!)
Dinner: Healthly eating low fat frozen meal (tastless curry things)
Evening: slim fast snack bar

Oh yeah, I've thrown in 3 of the Maximuscle Thermobol a day as well, might as well give it everything. (get a good deal on the maximuscle stuff!)

thanks for any help in advance, I look forward to posting back a photo with my 3 stone gone someday!

cheers

Richard

get rid of the slim fast and protein bars, thats probably why your having trouble sticking to your diet. You should only eat those if you are in a rush and dont have time or a meal, instead have a couple of tuna or turkey sandwiches or something. To me your diet is still horrible, you might be getting proper calories or nutrients but think about this, could you stay on that diet for the rest of your life. Im guessing not, so your gonna to have to revamp it again, unfortunately. since your a newb just start making healthier choices like everything whole wheat, no refined carbs, absolutely cut out all liquid calories. Heres an example of what I eat daily and even its not perfect but i think itll give you a better idea. notice almost no sugar, no refined carbs all whole grain, no frozen dinners and although it seems like im eating alot it only comes up to being around 2700 cals
breakfast: 4 servings oatmeal
snack: fruit
lunch: 2 or 3 tuna/turkey sandwiches with a salad (no cheese, wheat bread)
snack: 2 PB&J's
post workout shake
dinner: whole wheat pasta with red sauce/ chicken with brown rice
snack: sugar free yogurt or couple oatmeal cookies
