I need some help

Hi everyone..
Im a 21 year old female and I work out 5-6 days a week 2hours to 2 hours and 40 mins a day. I do mostly bag work punching, kicks (kick boxing and regular boxing) some weights and then I run 2 or 5 miles a day....I weigh more then I ever have in my entire life. Before I started going to the gym (6 months ago) I had an eating disorder (anorexia) im 5'2" and weighed about 103lbs. I now weigh 120lbs.. Its very depressing, I remember looking at the scale and it saying 109 and I was like Oh Hell NO! And now this? I bust my ass off every day, I know its not all muscle because I still have alot of fat on my body. But ware? Im still a size 2 or 3 my measurements are the same.. So ware the hell i s all this weight coming from? I sterted eating right: fruits, veggies, no sugar oat mill in the morning, wheat bread, lean meats like chicken, protein drinks (EAS whey protein). I never really eat fast food, I never do now, I dont drink soda....Im just scared that old habits are starting up again, I can remember every once in awhile I could eat something like cake only a bit, and not gain weight..I know some people say oh its just a number dont worrie about it, who cares? I do! I dont really count calories I guess I should... Im just shocked I went to the doc today and seen that 120, I hadnt weighed my self in months I seen that and my jaw dropped.. I mean its not like I stuff my face.. I dont know. Can anyone give me some advice, maybe someone else has the same problem. :)

As much as you are working out, and the types of foods you are eating , I can't hardly believe that it is fat. I'm gonna have to disagree with you and say you are probably building muscle and that my dear is heavier than fat, hence the weight.

Aside from that, what does the number on the scale really mean? It IS all about how you feel, how healthy you look, not a number.

Don't let a number scare you. If you are doing everything you say, you probably look rockin!

Cheers,
Diane

Like gotfit said, muscle weighs more than fat.

Look past the number on the scale. Are you happy with how your body looks and the level of health you have currently achieved? If you can answer yes to that, then the number on the scale shouldn't be so big a concern.

If you do not seem to be getting any bigger, but are getting heavier, you may be packing on muscle (a good thing). Muscle is quite dense, so it can add considerable weight without changing your size much.

Weight (or BMI) alone is a poor indicator of general health and fitness on an individual basis for someone who is exercising a lot, although if your BMI is less than 19 (corresponds to 104 pounds at height of 5'2"), you are at risk of health problems due to underweight. But within the usual "healthy" range of BMI (19 to 25, which corresponds to 104 to 135 pounds at 5'2"), body fat percentage is a much better assessment of health and fitness, and your trend over time. Even "overweight" people (BMI > 25) with a healthy body fat percentage (due to high muscle) tend not to have the usual health problems of being overweight (which are due to excess body fat). The main drawback of body fat percentage is the difficulty of measuring it accurately (any method may be off by several percent), which means that it is best used to measure trends over time (using the same method).

Commonly referenced tables claimed to be from the American Council on Exercise suggest the following body fat percentages for women:

Essential: 10-12% (or 12-15%)
Athletes: 14-20% (or 16-20%)
Fitness: 21-24%
Acceptable: 25-31%
Obese: 32% or higher

There are several problems with the scale, especially the doctor's scale:

1) Everyone uses it. It's a rough measurement. Probably broken too.
2) You're in the midday, after you eaten, drank water, etc. You easily gain 5-10 pounds after eating or drinking liquid.
3) You were wearing clothes, or something like that, which adds weight.
4) You can gain muscle, which weighs more than fat.

I say don't worry about the numbers. Why do you care if it's at 109? Or 103? Or whatever? Numbers go up and down in your life. No reason to be scared.

Just look at yourself and your abilites. If you're happy with that, then be happy with it. Numbers on the scale really means little to nothing.

I can say from personal experience that in 2 years of real commitment to my diet and exercise program I have lost 20lbs at best. But I've resculpted my body beyond what any scale can tell me.

You're doing fine don't worry about the scale so much.

I bust my ass off every day, I know its not all muscle because I still have alot of fat on my body. But ware? Im still a size 2 or 3 my measurements are the same.. So ware the hell i s all this weight coming from? )

I missed this earlier....This proves it is muscle not fat. You don't have fat on your body, especially if you don't even know where it is....and If your measurements haven't changed, you aren't gaining fat....

Try not to focus on fat and weight, and focus on healthy living instead, it will lead you in the right direction....

Cheers,
Diane

And yes I am happy with my physical abilitys, I can jump rope three rounds 4 mins each, touch my toes, and run a mile in 8 mins, this is the best shape Ive been in, even in high school and middle school I couldent do this. But yesterday I was looking at different posts on here and this one lady went on the daily plate. It has every thing on it and it counts all your cals. Low and behold I was some how counting my cals wrong, but this helped out alot. Thanks again you guys! :)

Sweetie,

she probably isn't doing the amount of working out that you are doing, and you are obviously doing it right because you are gaining muscle and sound like you are getting in great shape!

You keep yourself healthy, and you will always look good ;)

cheers,
Diane
