I need a good routine

Hello all,
I'm new here and I'm looking for a good routine to lose weight. I'm about 5'8'' weight about 235lbs, I used to be fairly active during college, but now since i back home and working a full time job I can't find time to workout. I had made a promise to myself that I am going to go to the gym everyday after work starting the new year. My main focus is to drop weight, I really don't have a certain amount I want to lose but I want to get fit and build some muscle. Due to bad knees I need to use the elliptical machine. When I used to workout I only used the weight machines. Can someone provide me with a good routine that will help me to lose weight, and build some muscle. I know that i have to have a healthy diet, that will really be no problem, I just need a routine that i can follow that will help me drop weight.

You say nutrition will be no problem.

Why was it a problem up to this point?

Nutrition is way more important than the exercise part of the equation at this stage in the game so I believe you should be putting much more emphasis on it.

Nutrition wont be a problem because I can control what i eat. The only reason I havent been lately is because it is hard while working 60-70 hours a week, I can simply change the way I eat I have done it many times before. I apologize for not looking at the stickies, Ill look at them now.
