Help with bike

I am always skeptical of things like this. Please tell me what your thought are on this bike. flyinfree has inspired me and I want to start as soon as possible. I have custody of my two daughters and I get $0.00 child support so this would be financially comfortable, but I don't want to waste money on crap either. Please let me know your thoughts on this bike...

Thanks in advance!

oooooh I like how it looks- totally.

BUT- I don't know squat about bikes. G8r80 will see your subject and come help you.

you will probably be able to get a higher quality bike for less money if you buy used. The shifting components are what REALLY matter. if you are cranking up a hill you need to b able to shift, and shift smoothly, especially if your really tired and doing centuries and such. Let G8r help you.

I did.

AND, my bike is aluminum, older, but it is tuned perfectly and fitted exactly to my body and such...

OH- and it used to belong to a total babe!

Thanks man!

This bike is from the same company, a little better and costs a little more. I think it looks better too. Not sure when they will begin to sell this one.

It's a $300 bicycle. I guess it really depends on what your expectations are and how you will be using it. I wouldn't expect it to last or be light but if you're just going to tool around the neighborhood on it, then by all means, buy it. But I personally wouldn't buy it. It seems like a disposable bicycle and you could get a used bike that would most likely be a better bike.

What do you want to do with it?

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate your opinion.

My wife has a Trek 1000. I have a mountian bike and she kicks my ass. I would like to ride with her without the extra weight. We would most likely do 20 mile rides on the weekends. I would like to get into the competitive side later but I want to try it out first and see how well I do with a road bike first. Maybe I will save the money and try to find a used one.

Thanks again,

C.

I am not a bike snob, but I cannot recommend any new road bicycle less than 800 - 1000 as I don't think you would be happy with it. If your budget doesn't allow this, I would join the others in recommending going used.

Thanks guys! Looks like I will go used. Stimulus time is right around the corner for me so maybe I can budget something from that~!

An alternative would be to put narrow tires on that mountain bike. If you have big fat mountain bike tires on that thing, that is going to be your biggest slow down. Narrow tires will be much like road tires and provide less rolling resistance.
