Bike machine vs Walking Machin

Well this semester i took it upon myself to make going to the gym a chore for at least 30 minutes a day. The first part i'd go workout on the weights for maybe 10 minutes with my roomate then we split up, i went to the bikes and he'd go do what he does. This plan seemed to work pretty well, i lost about 2 pounds a week and all was well.

Then spring break hit, took a week off and went home.

When i came back i stopped using the bicycle and switched to the walking machine ( elliptical or something ) and i dont seem to be losing any more weight on them. I know on the bike i can put the resistance up high and keep it going but on the elliptical i just cant push myself as hard and i dont seem to lose weight on it. Any suggestions so i can keep losing these pounds? I'm probably just going to go bak to the bike.

Don't quote, but this is what I've heard. The elliptical burns the most, treadmill 2nd and bike 3rd. Apparently you are using more of your body on the elliptical thus burning more calories (arms and legs) and on the bike, you just use your legs.

However, if for you, the bike works, go for it. I do suggest to keep mixing it up. Eventually, your muscles will get used to the bike, you want to work different muscle groups.

Personally the bike works best for me. I've found I get a longer more intense workout on a bike than I do any of the other cardio gear. I can push it pretty hard for 30-45 minutes on a bike, I have a tougher time maintaining the same pace and intensity on the eliptical and I'm bored to tears after just a few minutes on the treadmill. If I'm going to walk or run for 30 minutes I'll go for a jog outside.

i like both the bike and tredmill, i hate ellipticals. at the gym i use the bike. if i want to walk or jog, i go outside. i have used my MIL's treadmill and love it but i just can't make myself use them at the gym because they are at the front of the line of cardio and i really don't want the people behind me to have to watch my big butt jiggle, haha. not a big deal as i can just go outside instead. i have issues with my knees so sometimes the bike just feels better. it depends on the day and how i feel.
