Hi! I'm looking for feedback and help in weight loss.

I'm got a huge butt. These photos are somewhat embarrassing but in order to see where I need to be ya'll might need to see where I am!
I'm 22
About 5'6
Weight: 183 lbs
Bust 39 inches
Waist 32
Hip 48
Ankle 10 1/4

Any ideas on how I could target the lower half of my body, I'm worried that my top will shrink even more!

Any help/feedback is welcome! I need ideas and encouragement. I've never lost weight really, from the time I was a 15 I felt fat, I weighed 155 lbs, had a 28 inch waist and 41 inch hips. Very bottom heavy always. I just want to be able to walk into a store and fit pants easily, get more agile and be less tired all the time

So far I'm exercising about 25 minutes a day plus an easy cool down walk afterwards. I'm eating more healthy and cutting back sweets. I don't have specific goals yet because I'm not sure whats realistic! Loosing any weight would be fantastic! I haven't been able to in the past.

Thanks guys!

As I understand it, there is no way to really target just one certain part of your body to burn fat off of. But I think just doing some cardio like 2 or 3x a week to get your heart rate up and also doing like lunges or other exercises 2 or 3x a week that target thighs, calves, butt area, etc will help!

I would recommend maybe getting a trainer since what you are looking for is more specialized and they are knowledgeable. Or I would say look up lower body work outs and start trying them out. I know for me personally...running has helped shape up my lower-half quite a bit!

Good luck

to edit that post.. I've only been on this excersise track for 4 days I'm definitely out of shape.

Thanks for the encouragement! I really want to see a change so hopefully if I stick to it like you said will even help me out!

Thanks Katie

I'm 22 & also 5'6 I've taken 10 inches off of my hips(that I know of for sure). Lunges, squats, running, biking and pilates has helped me. My butt wasn't very big but my hips have always been wide. I need more booty!

Good Luck to you! You can do this!

Journey of 1000 miles!!

Hey,.... Haven't you heard, big butts are in style, LOL. I'm just kidding.

But first off welcome to the forum and I hope you can find everything your looking for here. There are going to be a few things that you'll need to do to make sure you succeed in losing the weight and getting the shape you want.

First, realize that this is going to have to be a lifestyle change. The weight-loss is just a extra bonus. You have to realize that everything that you have or have not been doing has lead you to this point, so you need to learn how to undo it. Which leads to my second point, learn Learn LEARN!!!

You will need to learn how to dig deep down inside to motivate and encourage yourself. Your friends, family and this forum will not always be here for you. Learn how to find healthy resources for yourself. Do research upon research upon research. Learn by trial and error to find out what works best for you. This means meals, certain diets, workout routines and schedules, and even when and how long to sleep.

Next make sure you are keeping what I call 'Journey Journal', this could be weekly photos, daily workout and diet sheets or even a regular journal explaining what healthy activities you did for the day. There is no greater motivation then knowing that in 2 weeks you can do 15 more push ups or pull ups then when you first started or seeing how much your body has changed in only 2 months.

And lastly..... remember this is a life long journey. I know you have a certain goal in mind but don't shoot to high to soon. We are people of pride and sometimes if we miss our goals we tend to give up. So promise me that even though you have a certain goal in mind that you will focus only on one day at a time. One meal at a time one workout at a time. Well at least until things become a habit and you become more knowledgeable about the various things you can do to help you stay healthy.

Now after boring you with my Motivational speech.... My practical advice to you would be to research information on speeding up your metabolism and interval training. These will be some key points to help you slim those trouble areas down and keep the stuff you want.

I wish you all the best!!!!!!

SURE they are, apparently the clothing designers haven't gotten word of that one. Its freaky hard to find flattering cloths I tell you!

Although, the weirdest thing my sister in law is somewhat madly in awe of my 'female figure' because she is a brick with no waist and not much butt even when she is slim. I'm intensely envious of her because her straight non attention grabbing (OMG WHAT IS THAT) figure. Wth. I figure after all of that I am pretty damn lucky and should be happy with who I am how I am.

That sounds like really good advice. I was thinking about it today when I stepped on the scale and it went up a pound :S but I'm so glad its not just my mind but its being confirmed that yes, this is not an instant fix its a lifelong thing. Day after day after day after...

"You have to realize that everything that you have or have not been doing has lead you to this point, so you need to learn how to undo it."

Yes.. this is true. Growing up there was ALWAYS room in the budget for on sale chocolate, or easter, Christmas, and Halloween candy sales or endless cookies and other sweet things.

On one hand we were healthy (hardly any fast food, plain wholesome meals) but on the other hand there lurked a deplorable sugar addiction! haha

So it is a learning thing for me and hopefully I can get it right fairly soon so I can see at least small results and not get hopelessly discouraged. I keep telling people (I used to be so ashamed I would try to loose weight in secret but always failed) because I know alot of people who struggle too but are ashamed to talk about it so I'm actually trying to get them to go in with me (but thats a side point) I have to do something so I have alot of learning to do!!!

Thanks for the encouragement I really do take the advice to heart and will probably look back at it in a time of despair. haha

Any tips or advice is highly welcomed!

Oooh, lunges and squats. I'm going to look up how they're done. I also need to work on my lower half v_v

You should try this. Get on your hands and knees keep your back straight. Pay attention to the angle of your legs. Knees should be 90 degrees bent. Then lift one knee up still keeping the ninety degree angle. Lift it up as high as you possibly can the first time to see how high you can do it. It hurts like crap but it tones. Do like 3 sets of 12 and don't let your knee touch the floor until you finish ALL of the sets. You'll also sweat buckets doing this v_v

Oh no! Torture! I'm not even sure if I can do one of those :S

Ok ok I'll give it a try ;) I was trying to run and couldn't stop jiggling thats pretty disconcerting.

girrrrrllll....i love your body. that is the type of body i want....especially my boyfriend....he loves big bootys and hips....love ur body girl! i wish i had a body like yours!!

ahaha well thanks Upon a Star.. its sure alot to lug around tho and I think even when I loose weight it will stick with me lol

I would suggest for now to work on cardio (jogging, fast walking, elliptical, whatever) to lose inches. Then you could work on weights for your upper body (like your shoulders) to kinda balance things out.
That's what I've read, anyway.
The squats and lunges won't make you lose more inches on the bottom, but they will tighten you up, which will make you feel a bit smaller.

Just wanted to say that I feel your pain!! I have a similar shape as you, that is, small on top with a big bum.

On the bright side, it's a nice shape, and so much healthier than one that tends to gain in the middle...you have a nice figure, even if you feel you need to lose some weight.

I'm 122 or so right now, and I have been down to around 116, and for me, the shape basically stays the same... my bust is 31 inches and my hips closer to 36.5. I remember when I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, my ribs were sticking but at the same time by bum and thighs were still nice and plump... so you're probably stuck with your shape...but who knows, maybe you will be luckier than me! (I actually like it though hahaha)

I won't add anything more in terms of shaping up the bottom half that other people have said... I hope that all goes well with you!

haha interesting! I guess its wise then for me to get healthier and more fit but not be afraid of my shape.

Do you have any pics of yourself posted?

Hey angel, as A guy I can say your shape is fine. Don't take this the wrong way, but men like thicker girls that shape you have is awsome. So tone that ass to your desire and get out there and let those boys buy you drinks and get free meals.

GL have fun with it Lou.

Ahhaha I see you found my diary Lou. Thanks for the encouragement. Good to hear it from a guys perspective.

From all the feedback I guess what I'm looking at now is really working on being in shape, and not worrying so much about dropping the pounds (even though I want to have a healthy BMI eventually)

But... my mom asked me if I lost weight! YEssssss.. Because I did. I'm now as of today at 179!! My scales sort of faulty but thats what it says so I'm not arguing. And it seems to be pretty consistent.

Maybe I'll post some more pics but its only a ... 6 lb loss so. :)

Nope, I don't currently have any pics of myself posted. I lost my camera and they didn't work out very well when I tried with my webcam! Hahaha

But yeah, you shouldn't worry about your shape, it's a nice shape to have, I think! I think pear shaped people have such nice bottoms!

I've found that dresses can be great, as long as they are A-line or if they are empire waisted. I have a few dresses in size 0 because they are basically "free size" on the bottom! So if you don't mind wearing dresses, they are a nice way to dress up your body if you aren't feeling like showing off your butt on any given day. =P

Ahhaha I like you're style it sounds like you do a good job of rocking your body the way it is. Thats super cool. I'm still working on that. I don't own any dresses actually, I have very thick legs :S which don't rock so well and even with an A line (though I can wear like a size 12 lol (I try them on sometimes) I feel like a huge pear!

Well I'll keep tryin to find something thats my style. We'll see.

Thanks so much for the ideas and encouragement! I hope to see you around here more, welcome to the boards. :)
