BMI

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of the weight of a person scaled according to their height. It was developed in the mid 1800s and is still used today. BMI provides a simple numeric measure of a person's "fatness" or "thinness". It should be noted however, that the BMI measurement is intended for those of a sedentary nature with an average body composition. This measurement is not necessarily accurate when used on atheletes or physically active people.

BMR

Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of energy expended while completely at rest. The energy used in this state is enough to allow the function of the body's vital organs, etc. This measurement is useful for determining how much more a person needs to eat to either gain weight or to how much less they need to eat to lose weight.

Greek Proportions
